The world was shocked when Michael Douglas announced he had stage four throat cancer in August 2010, but the Oscar winner now reveals that he wasn't telling the whole truth.
In an interview with Samuel L. Jackson on the U.K. talk show This Morning the actor, 69, admitted Thursday that he'd actually successfully battled tongue – not throat – cancer.
"This was right before I had a big tour for Wall Street, so we said, 'There's no way we can cancel the tour and say we don't feel well,'" Douglas admitted. "I said, 'You've just got to come out and just tell them I've got cancer and that's it.'"

While there's still hope for the marriage of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, the couple are still "taking a break," a source close to them tells PEOPLE.
"They're not back together," says the source. "People are getting ahead of themselves."
After winning an Emmy for his role in Behind the Candelabra, Douglas, 69, returned to New Mexico where he is filming The Reach, while Zeta-Jones, 44, has been home in Bedford, N.Y. with their kids, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.

Plenty of stars would balk at facing a red carpet press gauntlet in the midst of painful personal problems. Michael Douglas is not that kind of star.
Looking healthy, dapper and upbeat, the consummate Hollywood pro showed up for the Emmy Awards on Sept. 22 ready for the spotlight. With his wife of nearly 13 years, Catherine Zeta-Jones, more than 6,000 miles away at a film industry event in China, Douglas didn't shy away from questions about the "break" the couple recently decided to take from their marriage.

On the Emmy stage, he affectionately referred to her, saying, "I want to thank my wife, Catherine, for her support."

If you weren't watching the Emmy Awards Sunday night, we don't know what you were doing. (Actually, we do because we almost flipped the channel to Breaking Bad, too.)
Sure, we were disappointed when host Neil Patrick Harris chose tap over twerk, but there was plenty of action (and lots of dance) packed into the three-hour show.
We're breaking down the five things you missed:

You can't keep a glam girl down.
In a red-carpet appearance in China's Shandong province on Saturday, Catherine Zeta-Jones stepped out at a star-studded event to announce the launch of a new $5 billion film studio there, as well as plans by AMC Entertainment to host an annual Chinese film festival. (AMC was purchased by China's Wanda group in 2012.)
Other A-listers in attendance included Leonardo DiCaprio, John Travolta, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.
It was the actress's first public appearance since PEOPLE revealed her separation from her husband of nearly 13 years, actor Michael Douglas, in late August.

Awards season is nigh! And that means live primetime performances by our most celebrated entertainers.
Cue Elton John, who will work his magic at the Emmy awards for the first time ever with a tribute to Liberace. The HBO biopic Behind the Candelabra about Liberace's life is nominated for 15 Emmys.
Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, who are both nominated for outstanding lead actor in a miniseries or movie for their portrayal of Liberace and his lover Scott Thorson, will also be presenting at the ceremony.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones may be an ocean apart – he's in Europe promoting his role in Behind the Candelabra and she's in New York with their kids – but they seem to be on the same page about how to handle their separation: Both are maintaining a brave face.
"She's determined that it be life as usual [for the kids]," says a source, who noted that Zeta-Jones has been horseback riding and swimming with their kids, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, during these last days of summer.
And Douglas appeared upbeat, as he walked the red carpet and greeted fans at the Deauville Film Festival this weekend. Asked about his marriage Monday, he said, "My wife and I are fine. We [are taking] a temporary separation," he said, dismissing the idea there was a crisis in his marriage.
