Ripa's predecessor appeared on Fox11 to weigh in on Strahan's shocking departure from Live! for a new role at Good Morning America.

"Be totally professional," said Gifford, 62. "I would keep anything that is going on between you private. It's nobody's business but yours. But always, always be professional at your job. That's what you're hired to do."

Looks like Michael Strahan is moving on in all ways.

The countdown to Strahan's last day as co-host to Kelly Ripa has begun after the pair reunited on Tuesday morning's Live! for the first time since Strahan's bombshell announcement last week that he is leaving the morning talk show. Then on Tuesday afternoon, news broke that he will actually step down much earlier than expected – his last show will be May 13, four month earlier than previously announced.

Ripa, 45, and Strahan, 44, who walked out together holding hands, took a seat behind the co-hosting desk Wednesday morning but didn't address the news, instead jumping straight into the hot discussion topics of the day.

Kelly Ripa made her much-anticipated return to Live! With Kelly and Michael on Tuesday a week after co-host Michael Strahan announced his plans to leave the show – and Bellamy Young was there to watch it all unfold.

The Scandal star was the first guest on the morning talk show, following what she later called Ripa's "détente" during an appearance on Jenny McCarthy's Dirty, Sexy, Funny SiriusXM radio show.

Of the vibe at the morning show following a dramatic week, Young said, "They were tense, bless their hearts."
