Natalie Portman was happy to lend a helping hand – or two – to her son Aleph during a recent playground visit in Los Angeles.
First-time mom Portman, 30, steadied her barefoot son at the top of a slide and held his hand as they walked through the sand earlier this week.

Natalie Portman didn't let her baby son Aleph out of sight on Saturday when she took him out while she grabbed lunch with another woman at Serafina Fabulous Pizza in New York City.
The Oscar winner kept her little one on her lap the entire meal, feeding him a few bites and waiting for him to fall asleep before she began eating her own meal, a salad.
An onlooker tells PEOPLE Portman was "doting on him the entire time."

Apparently you're never too young for a little ballet: Natalie Portman and 6-month old son Aleph attended the premiere of Benjamin Millepied's latest pieces at the Opera de Lyon in Lyon, France. The two came in "just after the curtain," a theatergoer tells us, "and stood in the aisle by the back row." Portman was holding her son and he was smiling and gazing at the stage. Afterward, the casually-dressed actress brought her son backstage to congratulate his father. – Peter Mikelbank

Baby Aleph is quite the jet-setter!
Natalie Portman and fiancé Benjamin Millepied, who reside in New York City, have already taken their 4-month-old son on a tour of Paris, and now he's getting a look at sunny California.
The Oscar-winning actress, 30, held tight to Aleph, who was dressed for fall in a green onesie, out to a friend's home in Hollywood on Thursday.
The blue-eyed kid, who was born in June, was named for the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet.
His parents met while filming ballerina thriller Black Swan.
