Comme si de Rien N'etait – or "as if nothing had happened" – is a rather coy title for Carla Bruni-Sarkozy's new album, given her marriage to French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

Of course, something did happen – a lightning-quick courtship with the just-divorced politician, as the press chronicled every move. And now, in the wake of her February nuptials, the First Lady's CD has generated so much buzz in France, her record company moved the release date up to Friday.

"This is my first visit," Bruni-Sarkozy, accompanying her new husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, told journalists. "For the moment, I am listening to what people tell me, that is how I see my role."

The visit to Khayelitsha Township's Women's Group highlighted a French-initiative business enterprise. To show its appreciation, the group presented Bruni-Sarkozy with a woven jute handbag just like the ones it exports to the U.S.

In her first interview since the start of her relationship with Nicolas Sarkozy, France's new first lady, former supermodel Carla Bruni, has opened up about their whirlwind romance and marriage.

"They tell me that it all was too rapid. That's not true between Nicolas and me. It didn't happen rapidly. It was immediate," Bruni, 39, tells the French news magazine L'Express.

Although the pair were married nine weeks after they met, "for us, it even seemed slow," says Bruni. "I know you don't get married in an instant and that even more, we were in the spotlight. But lovers, you know, have their own sense of time."
