Cannes Film Festival Kicks Off with Great Gatsby, Emma Watson & More Stars Expected This Week

Under unseasonably cloudy skies and dodging a few raindrops, Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire kicked off the 66th Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday just hours before walking the red carpet for their blockbuster film The Great Gatsby, which opened the star-studded 12-day extravaganza of movies and parties on the French Riviera.
"Every time I go to Cannes it feels like I'm entering the helicopter scene in La Dolce Vita; it's an insane experience," said DiCaprio, who posed for photos on the fabled Croisette next to his Gatsby costars.
Emma Watson, who stars in Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring, premiering Thursday, was spotted among the early celebrity arrivals at Nice International Airport on Tuesday – along with Paris Hilton, Cannes jury member Nicole Kidman and British singer Florence Welch.

Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom appeared very much in love on the red carpet during the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night.
Kerr, 29, and Bloom, 36, whose marital status has been the subject of persistent questioning in recent weeks, were photographed donning big grins and holding hands. Bloom was dapper in a blue Burberry suit and white shirt, while Kerr wore a sexy red Zuhair Murad dress, showing a lot of leg.

Miranda Kerr and longtime pal Leonardo DiCaprio joined a late-night dance party at new club Rosewood last Friday, partying with Cameron Diaz and a contingent of Australian models.
Their meet-up at the club comes amid some tabloid reports that Victoria's Secret model Kerr – who's married to Orlando Bloom, 35, and gave birth to their son Flynn in 2011 – was getting flirty with DiCaprio.
But a club source at Rosewood said the two were simply out for a little music and dancing with a group that included Naomi Campbell's billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin.

The actor brought his black Saluki mix and his 15-month-old son, Flynn, along for a boys' day out at L.A.'s Runyon Canyon Thursday. With his little one strapped securely to his chest, Bloom and his canine companion soon hit the trails.
The outdoor park is a frequent haunt for the physically fit star and his whole family, including wife Miranda Kerr, who helped Bloom celebrate his birthday with a hike in January.

At 15 months old, the tot makes his magazine debut, posing with Miranda Kerr for WHO's Most Beautiful People issue.
With 18-hour work days modeling for Victoria's Secret and Australian retailer David Jones in the past, Kerr says "the pace has slowed so I can spend the majority of my time with Flynn."
"I'm first a wife [to husband Orlando Bloom] and a mother, and then comes work," Kerr, 28, explains.
