Owen Wilson sure knows how to horse around.
The actor was joined by his girlfriend Jade Duell and their 2-year-old son, Ford, at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles on Saturday.
"Owen was really sweet with baby Ford," an onlooker tells PEOPLE.
The proud parents took the event as a chance to introduce their son to a horse. "Ford smiled and Owen started snapping photos of Ford with the horse. He kept saying, 'Ford, Ford, look at me' to get the baby to look at him while he took the photos on his iPhone," the source adds.
After feeding the horse an apple, Wilson chatted with Nacho Figueras about the match.

The Internship is a dead-end job and Violet & Daisy is a snore, but PEOPLE's critic says This Is The End is worth waiting out a dull weekend to see next Wednesday.

Owen Wilson was game to stay up late recently, when he popped into Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium bar in Atlanta.
The actor, who arrived at around midnight, had an employee at the venue ring up owner Grant Henry to play against him in a Ping-Pong match, a source tells PEOPLE.
"Grant arrived at the bar and played a quick game withOwen, beating him 21-18," the insider says. "Owen requested a rematch, and Grant said only if the winner gets the other person's trucker hat."
In the end, it was a fair trade between Henry and Wilson – who the source says was "friendly and jovial, posing for photos with other people at the bar."

In town filming The Internship, Owen Wilson made the rounds through Atlanta on Saturday.
Starting out at Perrine's Wine Shop during the afternoon, the actor and a small group of pals browsed the store's extensive French wine collection.
"Owen was dressed like an L.A. surfer, wearing shorts, a T-shirt and a trucker hat," a fellow shopper tells PEOPLE.
That evening, wearing the same ensemble, Wilson popped into Ecco, where he munched on the eatery's signature dishes, including fried goat cheese, a honey and black pepper appetizer and a big bowl of homemade pasta.
"He's practically tried the whole menu," an employee at the restaurant says of Wilson, who apparently eats there regularly when he's in town. "He's always pleasant to staff."
