Padma Lakshmi Plays the Baby Name Game

Padma Lakshmi may have a bun in the oven, but she swears it's no "Pomegranate," the Top Chef judge tells PEOPLE, poking fun at creative celebrity baby names.
"I just want to see how the baby looks when it comes, and then I'll have some ideas," said Lakshmi, displaying her curvy figure in a long, low-cut Gucci gown on the Hammerstein Ballroom red carpet in New York for Alicia Keys's charitable Keep A Child Alive's annual Black Ball on Thursday.
Given her own background, Lakshmi, 39, indicates that the baby's name will be Indian-influenced. "The name will have to do with my family," she says. "I don't think it's going to be called 'Pomegranate' or 'Atlanta.' "

For Top Chef's season 4 competitors, news of Padma Lakshmi's pregnancy came as no surprise. Spike Mendelsohn recalls that when another contestant, Antonia Lofaso, started to cry because she missed her daughter, "out of nowhere, Padma started to tear up also. It signified something to us."
But for Lakshmi, 39, conceiving a child was the fulfillment of a wish she once thought would be impossible. Earlier this year the cookbook author, jewelry designer and actress co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America, and revealed that she had undergone two surgeries for endometriosis.

Pregnant Padma Lakshmi 'Butters' Her Growing Belly

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi isn't shy when it comes to discussing how expecting a baby has changed her life so far.
"One thing that happens when you're pregnant is that as your stomach starts to stretch [and] it itches! So I have to keep my belly really lubricated," she said Monday during a brunch in New York City to champion Reebok's line of Pink Ribbon products, which helps raise money to battle breast cancer.
To ease the itch, Lakshmi, 39, said, "Every morning, there's a buttering ceremony after I get out of the shower. It's really like basting a turkey with body butter."
Good thing she's got help. "Before, my housekeeper was helping me because I can't bend over to do my feet," said the model-turned-cookbook author, whose pregnancy was revealed earlier this month. "Now my mom's here and she's been buttering up my tummy."

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi has a bun in the oven, PEOPLE can confirm.
Lakshmi, 39, is pregnant with her first child after struggling for years with endometriosis, a condition that occurs when tissues that line the uterus grow outside the uterus, resulting in painful menstrual cycles and uterine scarring that could lead to infertility. The baby's father has not been identified and no other details were available.

Who knows if any of these hot-bodied babes actually ate a whole burger while making their ads, but they all looked sexy in their meaty commercials!
With the recent sneak peek of the Hills star Audrina Patridge's steamy spot for Carl's Jr., we couldn't help but to dig into the babe burger archive and see who posed for the hottest foodie makeout.
In 2005, Paris Hilton, in a peek-a-boo one-piece bikini, spiced up the airwaves with her 30-second spot for Carl's Jr.'s Spicy BBQ Burger that the Parents Television Council called a "soft-core porn."
Not to be outdone by the heiress, in March 2009 Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi had a "love affair" with a Hardee's Western Bacon Thickburger in slow motion – hiking up her skirt and licking burger juice from her modelicious legs!

Padma Lakshmi Turns Health Ordeal into Awareness

Padma Lakshmi is turning a personal medical drama into a form of social outreach.
The Top Chef host, 38, has started foundation to raise awareness about endometriosis – a condition affecting women's reproductive health – after her own experience of having a successful operation and making a full recovery.
"I'm somebody who never knew I had this condition and always thought that everything was okay," says Lakshmi. "I found out in a very hard, difficult way – and I had to be operated on. Now, I'm fine but it was a very trying ordeal."

Padma Lakshmi Poses Nude, Exposes Scar

Padma Lakshmi's favorite part of her body may be surprising – it's the seven-inch scar on her forearm from a car accident at the age of 14.
"I love it because it makes me a person who has an interesting past, and it reminds me that I can survive any pain," the Top Chef host admits in May's annual nude issue of Allure magazine, on sale April 21.
Lakshmi, 38, and four other Hollywood personalities stripped down for the feature. The cookbook-author and model says she has no problem being photographed in such a way. "I didn't feel any more naked without my robe. I don't have any stigma attached to my body. When I'm in my own private space, I have very little on," says. Lakshmi.

FIRST LOOK: Padma Lakshmi's Juicy New Ad

Padma Lakshmi basically eats for a living, but for most of her life the Top Chef host had a limited diet.
"I grew up a vegetarian," says the host. "Then, because I grew up in the states, I started slowly eating meat. First it was bologna sandwiches, or pepperoni on pizza. As a teenager, [my friends and I] would always go have burgers. I would scarf them down!"
Now, Lakshmi is putting her passion for meat into a new commercial for Hardee's Bacon Western Thickburger. The spot was directed by Chirs Applebaum, who memorably brought a babe and a burger together in a 2005 ad starring Paris Hilton.
"I think it's a beautiful love song to food," Lakshmi says of her new ad. "I think eating in itself is the act of great sensuality, so all you have to do is point the camera in the right direction."
