2013 will go down as the year the viral video industrial complex went on steroids. More outlets than ever jumped on the YouTube beat, and with so much competition, the viral video world became a true meritocracy.
No longer could mediocre clips like Obama Girl spread like wildfire among a bored populace. Now, only the best videos could rise to the top, whether they were an unusual exercise trend,a doomed Drake-inspired pickup attempt, or these ten favorites from the past calendar year. What happens next will astound you...

Patrick Stewart and new bride Sunny Ozell are all smiles at their Lake Tahoe nuptials as they pose with officiant Sir Ian McKellen, Stewart's friend and costar in the X-Men franchise.
McKellen then amusingly paid tribute to them on Facebook after the Sept. 7 ceremony, perhaps making up for letting news of the wedding slip back in March.

Sir Patrick Stewart has embarked upon a new Enterprise: marriage!
Stewart married his longtime girlfriend, Brooklyn singer and songwriter Sunny Ozell, on Saturday afternoon, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.
The ceremony took place beside Lake Tahoe in front of 100 friends and family. The bride wore a white French lace dress by Temperley London.
"Yes, married," the actor, best known for traveling the galaxy as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, wrote alongside a Twitpic of himself and his new bride having a ball, their bodies submerged up to their heads in a ball pit.

So, Patrick Stewart is not a pizza virgin, after all.
"People misunderstood. There was a school of thought that I had eaten my first pizza, but of course how could that possibly be true? I would have had to have stayed locked up in a cellar," the British-born actor and Brooklyn resident, best known as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, told New York Thursday in response to his Wednesday Twitter post showing him enjoying, in his words, "My first ever pizza 'slice.' "
"But nevertheless," Stewart, 72, said in his own defense, "this was my first slice of pizza, which I was only eating because my fiancée and I were a little hungover yesterday morning and she said what we need is pizza and a soothing drink – and she was right. It solved the problem."

It's not quite where no man has gone before, but on Wednesday, Sir Patrick Stewart, who traveled the galaxy as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and lead mutants in the X-Men series, went somewhere he's never been: a pizzeria!
The English actor posted on Twitter a photo of his "first ever pizza 'slice,' " even demonstrating the proper "N.Y. fold" way to eat the delicious slab of cheesy, saucy goodness (eating with a knife and a fork is blasphemy).
The actor will reprise his role as mutant leader Professor Charles Xavier in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Bet pizza is being added to craft services!
