Penélope Cruz Makes a Sex and the City Cameo

The Sex and the City sequel just got a little more glamorous.
Along with the original fab four – Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon – Penélope Cruz and Liza Minnelli are both appearing, along with Jason Lewis, who reprises his role as Samantha's younger ex.
Despite previous reports, Cruz doesn't play herself in the film, which is due to hit theaters next summer. For her cameo, the Oscar-winner fills the designer shoes of a banker, a source tells PEOPLE.

• Talk about an A-list crowd! Madonna brought boyfriend Jesus Luz to dinner with Penélope Cruz, her boyfriend Javier Bardem and the actress's family at Mr. Chow in New York. The pop diva and Luz arrived 20 minutes late – and joined the Cruz clan who were "very happy," an onlooker says. Madonna sipped martinis but Cruz skipped the alcohol at dinner. The group also shared chicken satay and duck during their two-hour meal. "They group was loud, laughing and seemed overall [to be] in great spirits," the onlooker says.

Penélope Cruz Shows Off a Dazzling Ring

A dazzling movie star deserves a dazzling ring – and Penélope Cruz didn't disappoint Sunday night. But was it an engagement ring? Or simply a conversation piece?
Whichever, all eyes were on the Spanish star at the premiere of director Pedro Almódovar's Broken Embraces on Sunday's closing night of the 47th New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center, where Cruz, 35, wore what appeared to be a knuckle-sized sapphire surrounded by small diamonds on her ring finger.
"She has achieved a very handsome, good boyfriend, two Oscar nominations, one Oscar and the respect and admiration of her profession," Almódovar, 60, said.

Will Penélope Cruz soon be Mrs. Javier Bardem?
According to several online reports, Cruz and her boyfriend, fellow Spanish actor Javier Bardem, are engaged. Reps for both actors had no comment.
The couple – who first met while filming Jamon, Jamon in 1992, one of Cruz's first films, before working together again in 2008's Vicky Christina Barcelona – have kept a low profile during their 2-year romance, choosing not to walk red carpets together, evading the paparazzi and remaining extremely tight-lipped about one another in the press.

Penélope Cruz: Kids, Si; Husband, No

Penélope Cruz is a perfectionist in all areas of her profession, something the Spanish-born star admits she carries over into her personal life.
"Every time I make a film, I feel like it's my first time ... I always think they could fire me," the Oscar winner, 35, tells the August issue of Psychologies magazine in the U.K. "I've ruined my own happiness and created problems with my friends because of this tendency. It takes discipline for me to stop worrying."
She adds, "I have a tendency to become a mother to everyone around me. My brother and sister are always complaining that I'm too protective."

Penélope Cruz Hit by Food Poisoning in Cannes

Even the biggest stars aren't immune to getting hit by stomach bugs it seems. Penelope Cruz had to miss out on promoting her upcoming musical Nine in Cannes Monday, sidelined by "some sort of food poisoning."
In France to premiere her movie Broken Embraces, which is directed by Pedro Almodóvar, she was slated to join movie mogul Harvey Weinstein in presenting a trailer and a teaser for Nine, but fell ill.
Weinstein passed on the bad news to a select group of journalists: "Tomorrow night is her premiere for her movie. She is getting better and is seeing a doctor right now."
