Duck Dynasty is getting serious.
When the A&E show ends its fifth season Wednesday night, it will focus on Mia Robertson, the 10-year-old daughter of Jase and Missy Robertson, who was born with a cleft palate and received corrective surgery, which is documented in the show.
"You're gonna go from gut-wrenching laughter to crying, because it's very sweet," Missy tells PEOPLE.

Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson chose not to quack back.
In one of his first chances to comment on the dust-up surrounding his outspoken father and costar Phil Robertson, the younger Robertson had only kind words for the A&E network and New Year's wishes for the nation in an appearance Tuesday night on Fox News's "All-American New Year" special.
"We're just glad to be back to work, and A&E and us are fine," Willie Robertson said in a live appearance with wife Korie from Steamboat Springs, Colo.

The footage, which surfaced Monday on YouTube, is said to be from a 2009 Georgia Sportsmen's Ministry event. In it, Robertson offers what he calls "river rat counseling," and warns men not to marry girls who are out of their teens.
"Look, you wait 'til they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that's going to take place is your pocket," he says. "You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16. They'll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that, of course."

The last year brought dazzling highs and disappointing lows for the Robertson family, who found fame with Duck Dynasty and more than a little heartache after patriarch Phil Robertson shared his controversial opinions about gays and African-Americans in a new interview.

Duck Dynasty will resume filming in the new year – with Phil Robertson.
A&E Networks – which had earlier suspended the family's patriarch after he expressed anti-gay beliefs and made statements about pre-Civil War African-Americans in an interview with GQ magazine – released a statement Friday saying that it has decided to resume filming later this spring "with the entire Robertson family."
Revealing that they had spoken to the family, A&E said that while they do not share Robertson's views, "Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family … a family that America has come to love."

While admitting his anti-gay comments were "coarse," Phil Robertson's family said Thursday night that he was speaking from the heart – and from the Bible – and that continuing to work on A&E's Duck Dynasty without the family patriarch would be inconceivable.
A&E suspended Robertson this week for comments to GQ in which he likened homosexuality to bestiality, among other controversial remarks. In a statement posted to their website, the family defended him.
"We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word," the statement reads in part. "While some of Phil's unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible."
