Prince showed that he had a sense of humor when he guested on New Girl last month.
But when PEOPLE went backstage to watch him on The Arsenio Hall Show, in an episode airing Wednesday night, we learned a whole lot more about the Purple One.
Clad in bell-bottoms, a long black fur vest, gold chains and a tame '70s afro, the famously private star took over the show as only he could.
Over the two hours of taping on Tuesday night, Prince performed three songs – his new single "FunkNRoll," "She's Always in My Hair" and "Mutiny" – chatted on the couch with Hall, and later sat with the audience to take questions from his fans, some of whom had been waiting outside the studio for more than six hours to see him.

Prince guested on New Girl Sunday night, and it was everything fans could've hoped for.
Zooey Deschanel's Jess and Hannah Simone's Cece are nearly run down by a black SUV in downtown L.A. As an apology, the driver invites both to a party – a party thrown by none other than Prince. A party that shall henceforth be known as "The Greatest Party That Has Ever Happened." The highlights:

On Wednesday, the Internet was fooled by a hilarious fake single from 2014 Super Bowl halftime performers Red Hot Chili Peppers called "Abracadabralifornia". The Chili Peppers's real performance alongside Bruno Mars can't possibly be that bad – in fact, given the halftime show's recent track record of success, it will probably be pretty good!
Still doubtful? Look at our list of the 12 most memorable Super Bowl halftime shows ever (and then see how many of them happened within the last 10 years).

Ruffle those collars and ready the umbrellas for "Purple Rain," Prince is coming to TV.
The eccentric artist will guest star as himself on an episode of New Girl airing after the Super Bowl. In the episode, Zooey Deschanel's character Jess gets a coveted invite to Prince's mega mansion party.

He is known for his provocative songs, revealing stage attire and musical genius – once changing his name to an unspeakable symbol.
So what did the famously private Prince, 55, show off in one of his first Tweets? (Hint: No doves crying, no raspberry beret or a red corvette.)

It makes sense that a star comedian like Tracy Morgan would have a way with words.
So, as he gears up to host Sunday's 2013 Billboard Music Awards, the funnyman says he chooses his terms wisely when describing how he feels about his hosting duties.
"Words take on meaning," he explained to PEOPLE on Wednesday. "If I say, 'I'm nervous,' then I'm going to be nervous. If I'm excited, then I can't wait for it to start. People who are nervous can't wait for it to be over. Nervousness is negative to me. Excitement is the way I like to use it."

Prince may be revered and adored by millions, but not much is known about his private life.
Since becoming a global, Grammy-winning star in the '80s, with classics like "Kiss" and "Raspberry Beret," the R&B musician has pretty much kept to himself. He rarely gives interviews and mostly prefers laying low at his Paisley Park compound outside of Minneapolis instead of hob-knobbing with celebs in Hollywood. But with new music on the way this year – he just released a terrific new single "Screw Driver" online, which you can hear here – the star is pulling back the curtain on his private life.
A new Billboard cover story offers a rare glimpse of His Purpleness and Paisley Park. (An excerpt is available here; the full story is available at newsstands now).

Forgive and forget? Not quite.
Three months after Kristen Stewart's cheating scandal with director Rupert Sanders, the 22-year-old actress has found forgiveness from her boyfriend of three years, Robert Pattinson. But their repaired relationship is still a work in progress.
"There's still healing to do and trust issues," a friend tells PEOPLE in this week's issue, "but Kristen will do whatever it takes."
