While visiting the Assyakirin Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge followed religious protocol and donned a headscarf while entering the house of worship.
But she's hardly the first royal woman to do so while visiting an Asian nation.
During a trip to Istanbul, Turkey, in 2007, the Duchess of Cornwall followed custom, wearing a gray headscarf to enter the Eyüp Sultan Mosque while visiting with Prince Charles.

In a nod to her hosts, Kate, 30, wore a pink kimono-style dress with an orchid pattern by British designer Jenny Packham as they arrived Tuesday.
One of their first stops was at the city's Botanic Gardens to view their famed orchids, including one named for the couple and one named after William's late mother, Princess Diana.

Originally posted 08/06/2012 10:30AM
Princess Diana's legacy lives on – thanks to her brother, Earl Spencer.
Spencer, 47, and his wife Countess Spencer, 39, have welcomed their first child together, a healthy 8 lb., 14 oz. baby girl whom they have named Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer – after his beloved late sister.
"She's adorable," the proud (seven-time) father told London's Daily Mail.
Although the couple hadn't settled on a name before the birth, Spencer had the newborn's late aunt Diana in mind. "I very much wanted her commemorated in the naming of our daughter," he said.

Prince William Missed Diana on His Wedding Day
Originally posted 05/29/2012 11:15AM
Despite the overabundance of dignitaries in attendance on his 2011 wedding day to Kate Middleton, there was one person missing, though very much on Prince William's mind: his mother, Princess Diana.
"Very difficult" is how the prince recalls her absence that day, as he reveals during an ABC interview airing Tuesday night, as part of The Jubilee Queen with Katie Couric.
"I sort of prepared myself beforehand so that I was sort of mentally prepared ... I didn't want any wobbly lips or anything going on," says William, 29. "It's the one time since she's died, where I've ... thought to myself it would be fantastic if she was here, and just how sad really for her, more than anything, not being able to see it."

"You couldn't have put the astrological symbols in a better place, " says Thornton on the pairing of Kate, a Capricorn (born January 9, 1982) and William, a Cancer (born June 21, 1982). "They even have the sun/moon tie up. It's classic symmetry."
Looking to the stars to see what the year ahead will hold for the royal couple, Thornton says: "It's all about re-establishing the popularity of the monarchy and they will continue with that."

Princess Diana Biopic: Who Should Wear The Crown?
Originally posted 11/08/2011 09:10AM
Fourteen years after her death, Hollywood is preparing to pay homage to Princess Diana with not one, but possibly three biopics.
Jessica Chastain, who recently lit up the screen in The Help, is reportedly in talks to star in Caught in Flight, which will focus on Diana's relationship with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn.
Last year Charlize Theron, Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson were all rumored to play the princess in two different films.
Theron was said to be in line for Closely Guarded Secret, based on the book by Diana's bodyguard Ken Wharfe. And both Knightley and Johansson were rumored to star in a movie simply titled Diana.
