He headed to Windsor Castle, where the Queen, 87, is based for a week of events, beginning with the Order of the Garter ceremony and then several days' horseracing at Royal Ascot.

Why the Queen Won't Visit Prince Philip in the Hospital
Originally posted 06/07/2013 01:45PM
It was business as usual for Queen Elizabeth on Friday.
With her husband Prince Philip, 91, in the hospital for an exploratory operation, the Queen, 87, continued with her planned visit to open the new BBC headquarters in London.
While observers might expect her to be with her husband of 65 years, for the Queen her work comes first.
"Everything comes second to duty, especially self. People don't understand that these days," says Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine. "It is always like that."

Originally posted 06/04/2013 08:20AM
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge returned to Westminster Abbey, the grand setting of their wedding, Tuesday as they helped celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's coronation.
Under the clear blue skies of early summer sunshine – Coronation Day June 2, 1953, was cloudy and gray – the 55-minute service brought the Royals together – including Prince Philip, 91, who was a welcome sight after he sat out a Monday evening engagement because he didn't feel well.
For the occasion, mom-to-be Kate wore a bespoke soft-peach silk jacket and dress (with silver grey ribbon detail) by Jenny Packham, with a Jane Taylor nude beaded cocktail hat with silk tulle, organza discs and smoked quartz detail (cost: $1,200) that she also wore at last year's Diamond Jubilee celebration on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Keep calm ... and shut the hell up.
Helen Mirren, in full Queen Elizabeth II regalia, wasn't amused on Saturday when she stormed out of the Gielgud Theater in London's West End, where she currently is playing the lead role as Her Majesty in the play The Audience.
No, it wasn't simply a cell phone going off in the theater that got the Oscar winner's goat – it was an entire troupe of dancing drummers beating their instruments outside while she was performing on stage, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Ah, babies. They bring everyone together – even the royal family!
Well, sort of. In the latest scenario imagined by photographer Alison Jackson, who specializes in spoof photos of the royal family, everyone from Pippa Middleton to Camilla to The Queen gather together to fête Duchess Catherine. The faux mom-to-be unwraps onesies that say "Born to Rule" while her royal family – and one of the Queen's beloved corgis! – look on.
Jackson previously arranged a shoot with Catherine and Prince William's lookalikes for a Christmas-themed photo shoot.
And we're not quite sure, but that we're hoping that might actually be Camilla!
