Prince William: The Queen Is 'Just My Grandmother'
Originally posted 05/24/2012 03:00PM
Think wedding planning is tough with your family weighing in? Try being a royal.
About two weeks after Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement, "I was given a list in the first meeting of 777 names, and not one of them on there I knew," William reveals on The Jubilee Queen With Katie Couric, a special marking the Queen's Jubilee. "So it was a bit daunting and it was like, well, that seems to be the guest list's sorted, but no room for friends or family. And I wasn't too happy about it."
Queen Elizabeth to the rescue.
"I rang her for a bit of moral support and a bit of backup," he says. "She said, 'Ridiculous. Get rid of the list. Start from your friends.' "

Prince Charles Tries His Hand at Being a Deejay
Originally posted 05/23/2012 10:40AM
Never too old to learn a new trade, Britain's Prince Charles received some guidance on the finer points of scratching and fading a record while visiting an employment skills workshop in Toronto Tuesday.
The tutorial came during his and wife Camilla's four-day visit to the city, all part of the Diamond Jubilee marking his mother Queen Elizabeth's rule over the Commonwealth. Two weeks ago, Charles, 63, tried out as a TV weatherman in Scotland, and proved he could point to a map with the best of them.
But how was he as a deejay?

Prince Harry Tries on a New Title: Pop Star
Originally posted 05/18/2012 07:15AM
Prince Harry, a pop star? It's true – and all for his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
The prince taps a tambourine – and, in the video (view below), can be seen shaking a leg – as part of a new song especially created to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and her commitment to the Commonwealth.
Called "Sing," the new anthem is the brainchild of singer Gary Barlow and Phantom of the Opera and Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Barlow, who is lead vocalist of the pop group Take That and the head judge on the U.K. version of The X Factor, went around the world capturing the music and musicians of the Commonwealth. His talent haul includes an African children's choir, New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra and reggae greats Sly and Robbie.

The Queen Recycles Her Wardrobe – Just Like Kate
Originally posted 05/01/2012 05:45PM
Is the Queen of England taking a page from Duchess Catherine? The royal matriarch has been recycling a plum coat for years now, wearing it most recently on Monday for an official outing in Windsor (right) as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour.
The coat's first appearance came on Christmas Day 2006 (left), when the Queen stepped out for church with her family. She also wore the piece – designed by her head dresser, Angela Kelly – to the Giant Rugby Ball in London in November of 2008 (center).
On Monday, the Queen paired the coat and matching hat – also recycled from her wardrobe – with black gloves, a dainty black leather purse and a diamond brooch.

But sure enough, there was Queen Elizabeth, 85, dropping in on the commoners' nuptials in Manchester this weekend – taking them up on an invitation they sent on a lark, although Her Majesty did not RSVP first.
"Basically it was a wedding gift for us," Frances Canning said, according to CNN.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William put fairy tales to shame, kissing not once, but twice, when they stepped out onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace last April as husband and wife.
Soon, they're set to return (again!) to the place where they made magic happen with the double kiss that was seen – and swooned over – around the world.
In honor of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee anniversary marking her 60-year reign, the Royal Family, including the duke and duchess, will head back to the balcony on the last day of celebrations, June 5.

Police say they have found the bottle-green Lexus GS300 in which Alisa Dmitrijeva – the young woman found dead in Anmer, England, near Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham country estate – was last seen, and are examining it for clues in her murder case.
"Work is currently being carried out on soil and debris samples found in the car to identify the pollen and spores in them," says detective chief inspector Jes Fry. "These will then be compared with the results from the samples taken at Anmer."
The tests will take several weeks. "If a link is identified, it could be a significant step forward in the enquiry," Fry said.

Prince Harry: My Family Is Quite Funny – Behind Closed Doors
Originally posted 03/11/2012 06:15PM
He may be a prince, but Harry prides himself as a royal jester.
During his four-country tour, which just wrapped up in Brazil this weekend, Harry says he was overwhelmed with emotion at seeing the love for his grandmother.
But what people may not realize, he says, is what a good sense of humor the Queen has, something she picked up from husband Prince Philip.
"They are very funny together. My family is the same as any other family when it comes to humor behind closed doors," he says, then adds, "though I'd like think I was funnier than my grandmother."

Originally posted 03/01/2012 08:45AM
Thursday morning brought a very rare tea party to London's swankiest food store.
In attendance, a royal trifecta: The Queen, Camilla and the Duchess of Cambridge (who wore a blue M Missoni coat with a daffodil and Rupert Sanderson pumps for St. David's Day) – with all three receiving special Jubilee picnic hampers that included dog treats.
"One thing in common with all the ladies is their love of a hound," says Kate
Hobhouse, chairman of the Fortnum & Mason food store, on why the baskets included the venison-flavored dog biscuits, called Hearty Treats for Happy Hounds. "It was a little bit of fun."
