Reese Witherspoon: Single Mom on a Mission

She has it all – a successful Hollywood career, famous boyfriend and beautiful kids – but when it comes down to it, Reese Witherspoon says she thinks of herself as a single mom making it through the day.

"It isn't anything I chose in life, it just sort of happened that way," the Walk the Line Oscar winner, 33, said at Tuesday's Avon Foundation for Women charity event at New York's Cipriani 42nd Street, where she was the honorary co-chair. "We all just do the best we can. We're all just people trying to get through life however we can ... I'm thrilled to be any sort of inspiration to anyone!"

Most inspiring is that the foundation she works with raises millions for women with breast cancer and victims of domestic violence.

Reese & Jake Treat Her Kids to Frozen Yogurt

• Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, treating the actress's kids Ava, 10, and Deacon, 5, to a cold treat at Twist in Brentwood, Calif. "Jake was great with the kids and they all shared little samples before deciding on flavors," an eyewitness tell us of the family frozen yogurt outing. But with dessert comes exercise –and earlier in the week, the couple took an exercise class at Burn 60, focusing on arm and shoulder work, as well as cardio. "The air conditioning wasn't on and in the 90 degree heat, Reese and Jake sweated and struggled like the rest of the class," an onlooker says, adding that the famous duo "seemed to enjoy" their workout.

Abbie Cornish Discusses Early Romance with Ryan Phillippe

While she may be top-billed in the new movie Bright Star, Australian actress Abbie Cornish first rose to prominence in the U.S. two years ago, when she costarred in the real-life domestic drama involving the then-married Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon.

Cornish, now 27, and Phillippe, 34, met on the set of the movie Stop-Loss, and today they share a home in Los Angeles – "where it was love that brought me here, not work," she tells W magazine for its September issue. "I think the city feels and looks a little bit different because of that.”

While Witherspoon has publicly called divorce humiliating and isolating, Cornish – whom W says was "cast as the culprit" – looks back on the period when the spotlight first fell on her as "a really difficult time for me."

"Reese looked adorable and very happy," an eyewitness tells us, adding that the couple engaged in "fun conversation" during their meal. The two kept dipping their fries in a little cup with ketchup and split a burger and salad. "Jake was very attentive and filled up Reese's water glass a few times," adds the eyewitness.

Talk about hot! Reese Witherspoon and beau Jake Gyllenhaal spent a steamy weekend in the desert looking cozy and attending the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

Temperatures reached the 90s while the Hollywood couple spent time at the La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Calif. They were spotted having breakfast at Twenty 6 restaurant at the hotel and lounging by the pool in the afternoon.

"Reese looked cute in a hat and bikini," says an eyewitness. "She was in a great mood and kept chatting with Jake between sips of a piña colada."
