Originally posted 12/04/2008 01:55PM
Heather Locklear acknowledged she's endured a "tough" year – marked by a DUI and treatment for depression and anxiety – but said her life is back on track.
"I've been better, but I'm good today," Locklear, 47, said Wednesday on The Tonight Show. "Here I am, safe and sound."
Asked by Jay Leno if she would have done anything differently this year, she joked, "I would have stayed in my house."
But she said that although she learned "hard lessons," she "wouldn't have done anything differently because, here I am today, happy and healthy, and lessons are to learn."

Heather Locklear and ex-husband Richie Sambora are embracing the spirit of Thanksgiving by celebrating the holiday together – along with Locklear's boyfriend – this year.
"Richie and Heather are spending Thanksgiving together with [daughter] Ava," a friend of Locklear's tells PEOPLE. "Jack [Wagner] and a few good friends will also be having dinner with them."
Locklear, 47, and Sambora, 49, split in 2006 after 12 years of marriage, but they continue to be supportive of each other, and to co-parent their 11 year old daughter.
"They may be divorced, but they are raising a little girl they both love very much," a friend of the Bon Jovi guitarist told PEOPLE in June after Locklear sought treatment for depression and anxiety.

Source: Cops Seek Child-Endangerment Charge for Richie Sambora
Originally posted 04/14/2008 03:30PM
Police have recommended to prosecutors that Richie Sambora be charged with DUI and child endangerment – both as misdemeanors – stemming from his March 25 arrest, says a source close to the case.
Last week, Laguna Beach Police handed over the case to the Orange County Calif. District Attorney's Office, which has not announced any formal charges yet.
"Because the case is under review, I can't discuss the details," DA spokeswoman Farrah Emami told PEOPLE. "Ultimately, we have to base our decision on the available evidence."
If Sambora is formally charged with both misdemeanors, a jail sentence is likely, legal experts say.

Richie Sambora Busted for DUI; Daughter Was in the Car
Originally posted 03/26/2008 01:00PM
Richie Sambora was arrested on a DUI charge in Laguna Beach, Calif., Tuesday night after he was pulled over with his girlfriend and 10-year-old daughter in the car.
The Bon Jovi guitarist was stopped around 10:52 p.m. after police said they spotted him weaving on the road, Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz tells PEOPLE. Sambora was driving a Hummer and was with his girlfriend, daughter Ava (whose mother is ex-wife Heather Locklear) and another unidentified juvenile girl.
Sambora was given a blood alcohol test – "He smelled of alcohol," Kravetz says – and he was "quiet and cooperative and he didn't cause any problems," he added.
Sambora was later released from custody on his own recognizance at about 4 a.m. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on May 7.

Originally posted 02/13/2008 09:15AM
When Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora entered rehab last year, he had "hit bottom."
On an emotional night dedicated to his father, Sambora opened up
to PEOPLE about how he barely survived last year – the toughest of his life. "I got divorced [from Heather Locklear], I was going through a custody battle, I was having alcohol addiction problems, my dad was dying," Sambora, 48, said before taking the stage with Bon Jovi for a benefit concert at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom Tuesday. The yearlong "Stand Up For A Cure" concert series will raise money for lung cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where Sambora's father, Adam Sambora, was cared for at the end of his life.
Sambora says of his recent experiences, "It was a gang tackle from hell, basically. And crawling out of that wreckage was a very triumphant victory."
