After revealing just a year ago that he is a fortunate homosexual man, Ricky Martin spoke more about what a powerful experience coming out was at Saturday night's GLAAD Media Awards.
"I've been through an intense spiritual process for the last five years, especially the last two years," he told reporters in New York. "I needed to share it with the world."
And it seems the rest of the world welcomed him with open arms. "My twitter account went from 500,000 to 1.8 million [followers]!" he said of his growing fan base, also calling it "an honor" to accept the Vito Russo Award, honoring openly gay and lesbian entertainers. "I'm walking today with my head up high, and to be here? To be receiving an award? I've only started."

Ricky Martin has been through a lot in the past year. But keeping him calm at the center of his crazy life are his two most adoring fans – 2-year-old twin sons Matteo and Valentino.
"Every day they teach me different things," the pop star, 39, tells Parade of his boys, born via surrogate in August 2008. "The love is there. When you have a 2-year-old saying every other hour, 'Papi, te amo. Papi, I love you,' it can't get better."
Certainly, there's never a dull moment. "A lot of people say, 'Wow, you're a single father of twin boys, that's crazy!' " he says. "Two toddlers can get hectic, but I wouldn't change it for anything."

Ricky Martin already has beautiful 2-year-old twin boys Matteo and Valentino – but he may be ready to expand his family again.
"Even though I started with surrogacy, adoption is probably my next step," Martin told Extra after performing with other stars for the CBS special A Home for the Holidays, which raises awareness about adoption.
"I had to be here as a father … 20,000 children have been beautifully impacted by this project. Adoption is beautiful. Give it a try!" Martin, who turns 39 on Christmas Eve, added.

Ricky Martin put on a brave face last March when he revealed to the world that he is gay.
But behind the scenes the singer was caught up in a maelstrom of emotion, he tells Oprah Winfrey in an interview airing on her show Tuesday. On the day he sent out an e-mail announcing, "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man," Martin says he first felt "numb" and then "relieved."
Then, he said, the magnitude of what he'd done hit him.

It's been a heavily debated topic for almost two years, but it took just a few seconds for celebrities to Tweet their cheers when Proposition 8, a ballot measure passed in November 2008 that banned same-sex marriages in California, was ruled unconstitutional Wednesday by a federal judge.
Here's what Hollywood had to say after U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker in San Francisco struck down Prop 8:

It's that time of year again – and Hollywood is joining in on the fun of April Fools' Day. From fake pregnancies to Twitter hacking, here's how some stars are messing with their fans:
Is Brooke Burke pregnant? "Where is your sense of humor?!? I will not be Dancing With baby #5. lOL Got you!!!! April Fools!!!" the Dancing with the Stars co-host, whose Web site reported the fake news on Thursday, Tweeted later in the day. (She even had her mom believing there would be another Burke baby on the way.)
Justin Bieber's already topped the pop charts – but what about the Web? The 16-year-old singer "bought" FunnyOrDie.com, renamed it Bieber or Die, and declared, "Anything that's not Bieber dies!"
Are the guys of Coldplay the latest celebs launching a signature fragrance? The band broke the faux news on their Web site that Angst by Coldplay, which features ingredients such as sangre, sudor and lagrimas, can now be purchased online for £42, although it's already sold out.

There are things that make you go "Hmm," and things that make you go, "Well, duh." There's been lots of the latter over the past week. Among the not-so-shocking news making headlines, we'd like you to pick a favorite:
Ricky Martin reveals he's gay. Good for Ricky for coming out after all these years, though it wasn't exactly a huge surprise.
Elin Nordegren doesn't want to go to the Masters. If you were Elin, would you even watch it on TV?

After years of sidestepping questions about his sexual orientation, singer Ricky Martin reveals in a heartfelt posting online that he is gay.
"I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man," Martin, 38, said Monday on RickyMartinMusic.com. "I am very blessed to be who I am."
He said his twin sons, who turn 2 in August, inspired him to be true to himself.
"To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids were born with," Martin writes. "These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed."
