Despite their troubled past, Rihanna still has moments of missing her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

"There are a lot of ... places that we've been to together, music, different things that come up that are reminders of your ex," the singer, 21, tells the Atlanta radio station Q100. "When [his music] comes on the radio, I don't ... turn it off. I like his music."

She adds: "I've gotten over it, but there are definitely constant reminders ... songs that were our favorite songs, or hit songs."

Chris Brown has received "an extremely favorable" report from officials overseeing his probation, a Los Angeles judge said Thursday.

Judge Patricia M. Schnegg acknowledged that Brown has completed more than 100 hours of community labor so far, and seven domestic violence counseling sessions.

"We have a progress report and it's extremely favorable," Judge Schnegg said. "That's excellent."

Brown, 20, who attended the hearing, was sentenced in August to six months of community labor for his felony assault on Rihanna, 21.

That amounts to more than 1,400 hours of washing cars, removing graffiti and cleaning and maintaining grounds in his home state of Virginia.

Chris Brown says he isn't quite ready to get back into the dating scene.

"I've been kinda chillin'," he tells MTV News. "I mean, I'm Chris Brown. I'm not saying it like that, but it's just, like, girls are gonna be around. I love women. But I would say I've just been chillin'. I haven't really been trying to get into a relationship or trying to date anybody. I've just kinda been working on me. Like I said, just really getting me straight."

From the pain comes the creativity. While writing songs for her upcoming album, Rated R, Rihanna had to let down her guard and draw from a private place full of pain to express herself through music.

"I'm usually a very guarded person, so having to go in and reach your emotions and personal things to say, it was very vulnerable," the Barbadian beauty, 21, told PEOPLE at Monday night's Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City.

She said the inspiration for her upcoming album, which will be released Nov. 23, come from "personal experiences mixed with rock and hip-hop."

Rihanna Gives Painful Details of Chris Brown Assault

Originally posted 11/06/2009 09:00AM

In a 20/20 interview airing Friday, Rihanna offers a graphic account of the fateful Feb. 7 confrontation with her then-boyfriend Chris Brown – including the terrifying blankness that seemed to come over him as he assaulted her.

She says all she kept thinking was, "When is it going to stop? When is it going to stop? He had no soul in his eyes. Just blank. He was clearly blacked-out. There was no person when I looked at him."

The fight, she says, started when Brown received a text message from another woman while they were driving away from a Grammy Awards party.

"I caught him in a lie, and he wouldn't tell the truth. And I wouldn't drop it," Rihanna tells Diane Sawyer in the interview, portions of which aired Friday morning on Good Morning America.

Chris Brown Discusses Rihanna Assault

Originally posted 11/05/2009 07:25AM

While Rihanna granted ABC's Diane Sawyer an interview about her February assault by her former boyfriend Chris Brown, Brown has taped a segment for MTV in which he addresses the beating that led to his guilty plea to a felony assault charge.

"My thoughts [when I look back on it now] is like, 'Why did it happen?' Like, 'What was I thinking? What is wrong with you?' That's what I'm thinking with myself. That's what my thoughts are, basically, now," the R&B musician, 20, says in excerpts released on MTV.com.

Now, Brown says, he's ready to move on. "It's like, 'How do we get past it? How do you, Chris' – talking to myself – 'how do you go from point A to point B? How do you learn from your mistakes, turn it into a positive and help other people with the situation, and at the end of the day become the person that you want to be?' "
