The song of the summer – Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" – was a no-brainer for a record of the year nod when the 2014 Grammy nominations were announced Friday night during a live concert at the Nokia Theater in L.A.
But Miley Cyrus, whose headline-making songs "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" were eligible, was shut out of the major categories.
Jay-Z leads the pack with nine nominations, Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis scored seven apiece while newcomer Lorde received four.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, also known as the unstoppable publicity machine called Kimye, released their newest creation to the masses Tuesday on Ellen. West swaggered onto the daytime talk show to premiere his new music video for "Bound 2," which also serves as an instructional clip on how not to ride a motorcycle. While the sunsets and horses are nice, the video's standout feature is Kardashian. The bare, blond and buxom reality star is shown body-rolling her way across West's chopper, and in turn, onto everyone's social feeds.

Miley Cyrus continues to make no apologies for her controversial behavior.
Following a touchy-feely performance during Sunday's MTV Europe Music Awards – and accepting an honor for her "Wrecking Ball" video while apparently lighting up a joint – the pop star took to her Twitter account to make one thing clear: She doesn't care what anyone thinks.
"Sometimes in life you just gotta decide to not give AF," Cyrus wrote, following up with, "Last night was a blurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr thanks @katyperry for hosting."

It's not every awards show where the ratio of cowboy hats per head outnumbers, well, everything else. Throw in a lot of boots and big hair and songs referencing various types of automobiles, and we reckon your Honky Tonk Badonkadonk's definitely at the CMA Awards.

It wouldn't be a music awards show – even a country one – without giving a nod to the year's biggest hit.
"Blurred Lines" got some love during Wednesday night's CMA Awards in Nashville, Tenn., when hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley kicked off the night with a parody of Robin Thicke's party anthem. The new version "Duck Lines" was a nod to the cast of A&E's Duck Dynasty.
The reality family joined the hosts on stage for the silly song, which replaced "I know you want it," with "I know you hunt it," and used "You're a country girl," instead of "You're a good girl." The words "Quack, quack, quack" replaced "Hey, hey, hey."

Robin Thicke oozes sex in his megahit "Blurred Lines," and a new interview makes it clear where he gets his inspiration: wife Paula Patton.
When asked how he and Patton keep things spicy after more than two decades together, Thicke – Miley Cyrus's twerkee at the MTV Video Music Awards – says that's not a problem. Like, at all.
"The spice is not our problem. We're overspiced," he tells Elle magazine for its November issue. "We could probably take a few spices off the shelf."

When it comes to twerking, Robin Thicke maintains his innocence.
"That's all on her," Thicke, 36, says, referring to Miley Cyrus, 20, and their buzzed-about MTV Video Music Awards performance of his song "Blurred Lines."
"People ask me, 'Do you twerk?' I'm like, 'Listen, I'm the twerkee. I'm twerked upon," he explains on Sunday's episode of Oprah's Next Chapter (9 p.m. on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network). "I don't twerk myself, okay? I'm just twerked upon.' "

Robin Thicke's loved-up lyrics came to life this weekend when he stepped out with wife Paula Patton in Chicago.
After the "Blurred Lines" singer's performance at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, he joined the Baggage Claim actress for a romantic dinner at Chicago Cut Steakhouse on Saturday.
"They were kissing throughout dinner," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "At one point, they even stepped outside to stand over the river and hold hands."
Thicke opted for salad and dover sole, while Patton enjoyed salad and crab legs.
"They looked very much in love," the source adds.
