He's got Oscars. Accolades. International fame. But what Sean Penn says he lacks in his life is love.
"There is no shame in my saying that we all want to be loved by someone. As I look back over my life in romance, I don't feel I've ever had that," the 52-year-old activist and actor, who will soon be seen in Gangster Squad, tells Esquire for its January 2013 issue.
"I have been the only one that was unaware of the fraud in a few of these circumstances blindly," he says.

It's been 25 years since The Princess Bride's magical tale first stole audiences' hearts.
To celebrate the anniversary – and the film's Blu-ray release on Wednesday – the cast reunited for a screening at Alice Tully Hall in New York on Tuesday.
Robin Wright and Cary Elwes, whose on-screen love made the film a cult classic, joined Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya), Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck), Wallace Shawn (Vizzini), Carol Kane (Valerie), Bill Crystal (Miracle Max) and director Rob Reiner.

A picture – or series of pictures – can speak 1,000 words.
Robin Wright and actor Ben Foster, who starred together in the film Rampart, were spotted earlier this week having an intimate dinner date at a low-key Italian restaurant in Australia.
A rep for Foster had no comment, while Wright's couldn't be reached, but photos show the pair looking cozy. They are seen gazing across the table from each other, Wright touching Foster's face and Foster kissing Wright's hand. Another photo shows the couple embracing outside the restaurant.

After a few false starts, Sean Penn and Robin Wright's divorce is finally behind them.
The former couple have reached a private agreement on child support, spousal support, split of assets and custody over their son, Hopper Jack, 17, according to court papers filed July 22 in Marin County, Calif.
Penn, 49, and Wright, 44, who are now legally single and free to wed others, also have a daughter together, Dylan, 19.

Together since 1989 and married in 1996, Robin Wright was Sean Penn's longtime anchor. Then, after some false starts and changing of minds, the two finally divorced last August.
While Wright rhapsodized about relishing her independence and harboring no regrets when it came to her ex, Penn, looking back, says, "She is a ghost to me now."
Speaking to author-historian Douglas Brinkley for Vanity Fair's July issue, on the nation's newsstands next Tuesday, the Mystic River and Milk Best Actor Oscar winner says, "We spent all those years together … Now she's just gone."

Fresh from her split from Sean Penn, Robin Wright Penn is embracing a new life.
"New beginnings, definitely," she tells Redbook in its November issue, out Oct. 27. "For me, my career too. My kids are older now."
But, of course, ending a marriage isn't easy. After a notoriously rocky 13-year marriage to infamously hot-tempered actor/director Penn, the actress, 43, filed for divorce in August for what appears to be the final time.
