Russell Simmons Responds to Kimora's Divorce Filing

Russell Simmons has filed a response to his estranged wife Kimora Lee's divorce petition in a Los Angeles court Tuesday, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The hip-hop mogul, whose legal papers cite irreconcilable differences, is seeking joint physical and legal custody of his and Lee's daughters, Ming, 8, and Aoki, 5. The couple married in 1998.
In her divorce filing in March, Lee, 33, requested that Simmons, 50, get "reasonable child visitation ... to be accompanied at all times by the children's nanny and security personnel."

Kimora Lee Files for Divorce from Russell Simmons

Kimora Lee Simmons filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Russell Simmons, in Los Angeles County Superior Court Tuesday.
The couple announced that they had split up in March 2006, but said they had already been separated "for some time."
In court papers, Kimora, 32, cites irreconcilable differences and asks for legal and physical custody of the couple's two daughters, Ming, 8, and Aoki, 5. She requests that Simmons, 50, get "reasonable child visitation … to be accompanied at all times by the children's nanny and security personnel.
At the time of their initial separation in 2006, Simmons said in a statement: "Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other."
Kimora has been dogged recently by rumors that she is expecting a child with boyfriend Djimon Hounsou. At an appearance in Chicago earlier this month, she told reporters. "I'm in the paper every single week – that I had a fight with my ex-husband, or that I was mad at one of his girlfriends, or that I'm pregnant, or that I demand Fiji water … Lies upon lies upon lies."

Birthday Presence Buying a birthday gift for that someone special can be difficult for anyone – but it poses a special challenge for hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons. "I don't know what the hell to buy her," Simmons tells Daily Insider about his wife, former model and Baby Phat founder Kimora Lee. "She's got a few Bentleys. She's got all the jewelry. She buys her own stuff. She likes a lot of toys." So what's he going to do for her 29th birthday, coming up May 4? He's going to fly a planeload of her friends, including best pal Tyra Banks, to London for the Prince's Trust Urban Music Festival May 8 and 9. "Prince Charles asked me to be the ambassador" for the event, Simmons says. "We're bringing a bunch of people, whoever she wants. I'm chartering a 46-seater plane. It'll be a good time in England. We're going to have a big party." As for Simmons himself, don't plan on spending a fortune for his birthday (Oct. 4). "I own that luxury watch company, Grimoldi, but I wear a Timex," he says. "I'm just different. I had a lot of junk already. I'm junked out."
