Connie Britton is jumping from the music scene to the trial of the century.

The Nashville star will join the FX miniseries American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson that's based on Jeffrey Toobin's best-selling book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

The miniseries's executive producer Ryan Murphy revealed her addition to the cast via Twitter on Monday.

This is not the first time we've heard that Freak Show would be Jessica Lange's last season of American Horror Story, but it's finally been confirmed by the star herself.

"We've had a great run here," Lange, 65, told the crowd inside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday for PaleyFest. "I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I've had the opportunity to play ... Forty years of acting and it's never going to get better than this. Yes, I'm done. I loved this season. It was my absolute favorite."

Joe Manganiello was forced to drop out of Ryan Murphy's new Fox drama Scream Queens because of his upcoming publicity schedule for Magic Mike XXL, PEOPLE has learned.

So Oliver Hudson, who plays Jeff Fordham on the ABC drama Nashville (and happens to be the brother of Kate Hudson), will replace Manganiello in the American Horror Story-like show about a college campus rocked by a series of murders.

As Glee nears its series finale, both Gleeks and the cast have begun to mourn.

Jane Lynch – whose character Sue Sylvester reinvigorated the art of the snippy one-liner and made track suits acceptable office apparel – tells PEOPLE she was flooded with emotions while filming the show's final episode last Saturday.

"It was waterworks," admitted the Emmy winner, 54, who teamed with the ASPCA and Febreze on Wednesday to educate pet owners against the affects of noseblindness.

"There are some takes I'm sure they can't use because we were all weeping," she continues. "It was hard to get through."

Billie Lourd, the daughter of Carrie Fisher and CAA talent agent Bryan Lourd, has been cast in Ryan Murphy's upcoming Fox horror comedy series Scream Queens, reports Deadline.com.

Lourd, 22, joins a cast that's already chock full of young talent, including Lea Michele, Nick Jonas, Joe Manganiello, Keke Palmer, Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin and Ariana Grande.
