Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's divorce was finalized Thursday, Los Angeles court records show, indicating that financial and custody settlements have been reached.

Details weren't immediately available, however, the ex-couple have continually sought a shared custody arrangement over children Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4.

The documents, dated June 12, only read: "[The court finds] the parties have settled all their remaining issues in these proceedings."

Witherspoon is currently dating Jake Gyllenhaal, while Phillippe, 33, recently stepped out with Australian actress Abbie Cornish, 25.

After months of speculation about their relationship, he proudly accompanied his Stop-Loss costar Abbie Cornish to the 2008 Australian in Film Breakthrough Awards – their first major event as a couple.

"They were adorable," says a guest. "He had his arm around her and they were cozy and comfortable."

Ryan Phillippe admits that he was not prepared for the whirlwind of attention that would follow marrying Reese Witherspoon.

Phillippe, 33, speaking to Britain's The Times Magazine while promoting his Iraq war film, Stop-Loss, refused to talk about his friendship with costar Abbie Cornish but he did hint at the problems of a high-profile marriage.

"I fooled myself into believing it would be easier than it was. To have people speculating constantly about the state of your relationship, casting aspersions and telling lies ... It took more of a toll than I was immediately aware of," he told the magazine.

When asked if there's any tension now between him and Phillippe, he replied, "That's all silly, of course."

"He's terrific," Leno, 57, told reporters at Thursday's One, Two, Many premiere in Hollywood.

Jay Leno apologized Tuesday for on-air remarks he made during a chat with Ryan Phillippe that were then criticized by gay activists and others.

"In talking about Ryan's first role, I realize that what I said came out wrong," the host of NBC's Tonight Show said in a statement to PEOPLE. "I certainly didn't mean any malice. I agree it was a dumb thing to say, and I apologize."

Last week, while talking with Phillippe (whose appearance was keyed to his new movie Stop-Loss), Leno, 57, said to the actor, "Can you give me, like – say that camera is your gay lover ..." (Phillippe's first role was as a gay character on a soap opera).

He knew it was coming, but that doesn't make it any easier for Ryan Phillippe to see ex-wife Reese Withersoon with her new man.

"It's bizarre," the actor told USA Today Wednesday, adding that he avoids looking at photos of Witherspoon and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal.

"There's plenty of times when I say, 'What a strange situation I've found myself in,' " he said. "But at a certain point you know it's going to happen, so you are prepared."

The actor, 33, tells W magazine, "There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed. It was the worst time in my life."

But that was then. "You get through it," Phillippe says now. "It's a process that's not easy, but I get less and less sad about it every day."
