Laura Prepon has flown the coop.
Orange is the New Black, the Netflix original series that takes place in a women's prison, will lose one of its central characters, inmate Alex, played by Laura Prepon, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
While Prepon, 33, will no longer be a series regular, she still will return for season 2 in order to tie up any loose ends in her storyline. There also remains the possibility of a comeback in the future, says the trade publication.
"Our season is still developing and nothing is confirmed," a Netflix rep said in a statement. Season 2 of the series is currently in production.

She's hanging up her scrubs for good.
Next season will be the last for Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh, after what will be 10 seasons on the hit ABC medical drama.
"It's been a great privilege to play the character of Cristina Yang on GA, and I am both sad and excited to see where this, her final season will take her," Oh, 42, said in a statement, EW.com reports.
"It was an emotional and deeply creative decision for me and I feel fully supported by Shonda [Rhimes, the show's creator and executive producer,] and the writers," her statement continued.

"It'll be an easy day." That's what Owen promised wife Cristina early in Thursday's Grey's Anatomy, which naturally, meant the day would turn out to be anything but. Stormy, life-altering – those would've been more appropriate descriptions. By the time the episode ended, one couple had broken up, two friends were at odds and a doctor had decided to quit the hospital.
From the start, Callie seemed to be having second thoughts about her decision to accompany Arizona to Africa. She bristled when Arizona tried to give away their kitchen appliances to Sloan and seemed unsettled by the Chief's declaration that he'd had "big plans" for her before she opted to check out of Seattle Grace. And there was definitely no hiding her disappointment over the pitiful turnout to the couple's going-away party. Preparing to say goodbye to his closest friend, Sloan finally pointed out the obvious in a way that only the playboy plastic surgeon could: "You sound an awful lot like someone who's getting double Ds just because her girlfriend likes a big rack. And by big rack, I mean Africa."

Thursday's Grey's Anatomy began on the stormy morning after Cristina and Owen's wedding, with the bride waking up in a panic next to her new husband. She was married! Owen seemed prepared for a freak-out and encouraged his wife to stay calm. "We're just gonna get up and go to work like always,"he said casually, handing her a multigrain bar and tenderly offering to shampoo her hair.
But it would take more than a good scalp massage to get Cristina through the day. At the urging of Owen and Teddy, Chief Weber overruled trauma counselor Perkins and cleared the resident to return to the OR to help reconstruct the heart of a patient she'd last operated on with Burke. "She won't feel like herself until she's back in surgery again," Teddy insisted.
That would've been true of the old Cristina. Not this one, who's still so traumatized by the hospital shootings that the moment a tray of surgical tools clattered to the floor, she hit the ground, too, overwhelmed by tears and PTSD. Meredith was eventually able to get her BFF back on her feet but the experience so shook Cristina that she removed her wedding band and left it in Owen's hands.
Thankfully, he wasn't about to give up on his marriage that easily. He reminded her she hadn't abandoned him during his own struggle with PTSD. "I'm not going anywhere without you," he promised. To which an approving Mer quipped, "I already fixed her before you came, but that was a nice speech."
Mer had a harder time fixing herself. Still not cleared for surgery, she tried her best to avoid Derek, who was none-too-thrilled to have been left in jail overnight for his latest arrest for reckless endangerment. (He had been urinated on by a meth head while in custody so we can't say we blame him.)

The divorce between Sandra Oh and Sideways writer-director Alexander Payne was finalized Thursday, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Although their marital status officially ended on Dec. 22, the former couple took more than two years to settle their finances, which is the last step in any divorce.
