The Talk co-host Sara Gilbert shared some good news on the show Monday – that she and girlfriend Linda Perry are tying the knot!
Gilbert told her costars and the studio audience about her engagement that happened "about a week ago."
Perry – who is a singer, songwriter and producer – planned a musical picnic to pop the question, which Gilbert called "magical and amazing."
The pair, who announced they were in a relationship last fall, were eating in a park and enjoying listening to a musician playing nearby when the surprises started.

The women of The Talk have had plenty to chat about lately behind the scenes.
The cast – Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler – are going entirely makeup free for the live season premiere of the CBS show on Sept. 10 (2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT).
Even guest Jamie Lee Curtis will be completely natural.
"I had a lot of trepidation when we decided to do this," Chen tells PEOPLE. "We know there are people who are going to say, 'Oh, my God, no wonder they wear so much makeup.' "

Never one to mince words, The Talk co-host Sharon Osbourne came right out and asked guest Melissa Gilbert when she knew her sister Sara Gilbert was gay.
While the question made Sara, 36, who recently started dating Linda Perry, squirm a bit, the audience laughed and cheered.
"You know what, I'll put it to you this way," said Melissa, 47, best known for her role on Little House on the Prairie. "I took her to dinner when she was in her teens and I sat her down and I gave her this long speech about how much I love you and it doesn't matter and you're my darling and blah, blah, blah and you can tell me anything. And she
looked and me and she said, 'I'm not gay.' And I was like, 'OK, whatever.'"

Sara Gilbert is speaking out about her new relationship – even though she would have rather waited.
On Wednesday's episode of The Talk, Gilbert acknowledged that the story of her relationship with Linda Perry had been told, prematurely.
"The other day I was just out, and the paparazzi were there," she said to the panel, as a photo of her and the musician-turned-producer was shown on the monitor.
After The Talk co-host and Perry were spotted shopping together hand-in-hand over the weekend, reports surfaced that the two were dating.

Has Sara Gilbert found new love?
The actress and co-host of The Talk, who recently ended her relationship with her partner of 10 years, Allison Adler, was photographed holding hands with musician and producer Linda Perry as the pair left a grocery store in West Hollywood over the weekend.
Earlier this month, Gilbert, 36, and Perry, 46, were photographed together at the 40th Anniversary gala for the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.
It also appears the two may have spent the holiday together.

Newly single Sara Gilbert was spotted enjoying a solo lunch at O!burger in West Hollywood this week.
The actress and co-host of The Talk, 36, was casually dressed and appeared very "zen" as she enjoyed an organic veggie burger in the restaurant's sunny outdoor patio area, an onlooker tells PEOPLE.
"She looked healthy and lean, and she had a really relaxed vibe about her," according to the source. "She looked like she was savoring the day."
Gilbert and partner of 10 years Alison Adler, 44, announced their split Wednesday. They will share custody of their two children.

After 10 years together, Sara Gilbert and Allison Adler have ended their relationship, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
The Talk co-host and actress, 36, and Adler, 44, will share custody of their two children, son Levi, 6½, and daughter Sawyer, 4.
Gilbert and Adler, a television producer and writer, began dating in 2001.
A rep for Gilbert confirms the breakup. "It's completely amicable," the rep tells PEOPLE.

In his papers, Sawyer says his contact with the Oscar winner was a result of mistaken identity and possible fraud, and he begged Berry for forgiveness. Neither Berry, 39, nor Sawyer was in court for the hearing, where a judge ordered Sawyer to stay away from Berry's home and place of work and to stop contacting her. Berry claimed Sawyer wrote to say he wanted to spend Valentine's Day with her. "Leave a message where I can reach you. I'm not playing now," he allegedly stated, according to Reuters.
