Sarah Michelle Prinze and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. are parents, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

The couple "welcomed their daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze on Saturday, Sept. 19," says a rep for the actress. "The family is over the moon."


This is the first child for the couple, who revealed that they were expecting back in April.

Freddie Prinze Jr. will star on the upcoming season of 24. Sarah Michelle recently changed her last name from Gellar to Prinze.

How did Michelle Trachtenberg feel when she heard pal Sarah Michelle Gellar was expecting? "I was jumping for joy," said the actress, who played Gellar's little sister on the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

"We talk every other day. I'm super excited!" she added at a private dinner for designer Rebecca Minkoff and stylist Ilaria Urbnati's at L.A. boutique Confederacy last week. "I'm so very happy for her and Freddie. She's going to be an extraordinary mom. Good people make great parents."

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are expecting their first child together, a source close to the couple confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. "They're very excited," says the source, adding that the actress, 31, is due in the fall.

Gellar, who has been married to Prinze, 33, for six years, will next shoot the HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladays, for which she serves as an executive producer. Prinze recently shot the comedy pilot No Heroics for ABC.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have known each other for 10 years and have been married for more than five. But it still might be a while before they begin to raise a family.

"You can't be selfish and have a child," Gellar, 30, tells Maxim in its December issue. "Right now I want to live my life and have fun. I want to go sit in my Jacuzzi and drink wine all night."

Then, the next day, natural forces struck again: A 4.6 earthquake rocked the area just as guests were heading home. "Earthquake? Hurricane?
