Talk about a dressing down.

Levi Johnston went on CBS's The Early Show on Wednesday to needle his favorite target, his baby mama's mama Sarah Palin, by claiming she referred to her infant son Trig, who has Down syndrome, as "retarded."

Without providing any details, Johnston, 19, also darkly suggested that Palin, the former Republican candidate for vice-president, has done a whole lot worse, saying he knows things that could get her "in trouble and could hurt her."

Call her what you like, but she's definitely a fast writer.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has already finished her memoir, titled Going Rogue: An American Life, and has a newly moved-up launch date for its publication – Nov. 17 for a whopping 1.5 million copies, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

The 400-page memoir from HarperCollins, which Palin wrote with noted ghostwriter Lynn Vincent, was completed in a swift four months, at last part of which Palin spent in an intense retreat in San Diego, Calif.

Levi Johnston Dishes on Palin Household

He almost became a member of the Palin family, but Levi Johnston – who fathered former Gov. Sarah Palin's grandchild with her daughter Bristol – isn't holding back when it comes to spilling the Alaska clan's secrets.

"There was a lot of talk of divorce in that house ... times when Sarah and Todd would mention it and sound pretty serious," says Johnston, who turns 19 this year. (Last month, the couple denied Internet rumors of a pending divorce.)

But that wasn't all. In a wide-ranging interview with Vanity Fair in its October issue, out nationally Sept. 8, the teen says that the onetime vice-presidential nominee's frequent self-description as a "hockey mom" who put family above career was far from the truth.

A rep for former Alaska Gov. and Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has firmly denied Internet reports this weekend that she and husband Todd Palin both had affairs and are now planning to divorce.

"No truth to any of the rumors," wrote the rep in an e-mail to PEOPLE. "No divorce. No affairs. No land in Montana. Nothing! All lies and fabrications!"

The reports, published on several Alaskan Web sites, allege extramarital affairs on both sides and an impending divorce, and claim the 45-year-old politician is considering moving her family to Montana afterward.

Levi Johnston Says Palin Resigned over Stress – & Money

Originally posted 07/13/2009 08:40AM

Though the war of words between exiting Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her former future son-in law – and father of her grandson – Levi Johnston is said to have simmered down, the coals may have been stirred once again by the 19-year-old's candid comments about her on Monday's Today show.

To Johnston, who spoke to the NBC morning program's Ann Curry, Palin's sudden resignation on July 3 was fueled by a combination of her wanting to cash in on her fame and her desire to relieve the stress in her life.

Saying he was "not surprised" by Palin's decision to leave office, Johnston said that the defeated GOP vice-presidential candidate received "tons of offers" after the November election and "talked about how nice it would be to take some of this money and run with it."

Sarah Palin: Why I Resigned

Originally posted 07/07/2009 07:55AM

In her first interview since her stunning announcement Friday that she was stepping down from her state's highest office, Sarah Palin – in the middle of a fishing trip in a remote corner of Alaska – breathlessly told NBC's Andrea Mitchell that the beginning of the end of her governor's job took place on Aug. 29, the day John McCain chose her as his running mate in the 2008 Presidential race.

"Everything changed" that day, Palin said on Tuesday's Today show. "Nothing would be the same for our administration."

While her resignation Friday from Alaska's highest office 18 months ahead of schedule continues to be dissected, Sarah Palin is lashing out at her critics – some of whom are her fellow Republicans, puzzled by her move – while also asking her supporters to remain just that, supportive.

"Critics are spinning, so hang in there as they feed false info on the right decision made as I enter last yr (sic) in office to not run again," Palin, whose future political plans, if any, have yet to be announced, wrote on her Twitter page Sunday – one of 10 messages she dispatched into the blogosphere this weekend.

Sarah Palin's Resignation Stuns Father-In-Law

Originally posted 07/05/2009 11:05AM

On the night before Sarah Palin resigned as governor of Alaska, her husband Todd Palin dialed the cell number of his father, Jim. "Sarah's making an announcement tomorrow. Can you be there?"

Jim Palin was more than 200 miles away in Kenai, preparing for a salmon fishing trip with friends. He had no clue why his son was calling, or the nature of the announcement. "I didn't know what was coming and I didn't ask," he said. "I couldn't get back because I had a commitment. If I had been home, I would have been there," he says.

Early the next morning, Jim went fishing and landed his biggest salmon yet – a 60-lb. King. Then a little after 11 a.m. he got another whopper – news that his famous daughter-in-law was quitting her job as governor of Alaska. "Wow!" he said after reading the bulletin on his email. "We had no idea it was coming. Nobody seemed to know; they're extremely private people."

Sarah Palin Resigns as Alaska Governor

Sarah Palin announced Friday that she will resign as Alaska governor later this month. She made no mention of pursuing another office, but her sudden move sparked speculation she is considering a run for the U.S. Senate or for the presidency.

"It hurts to make this choice but I'm doing what's best for Alaska," she said in a speech from the backyard of her home in Wasilla, with her husband Todd and children, Piper, Bristol and Willow, at her side. "You can effect change from the outside, and I can too."

She also said that her year-old son Trig, who has Down syndrome, needs her at home more.
