Scott Weiland Upbeat Despite Jail Sentence
Originally posted 05/02/2008 02:15PM
Scott Weiland isn't singing the jailhouse blues just yet.
The Stone Temple Pilots frontman, who was sentenced to eight days behind bars for a second DUI conviction on April 28, wrote an upbeat blog entry on his MySpace page just two days afterward.
"I've been crazy busy since coming off tour and never get the chance to sleep in anymore," Weiland wrote, adding that he's gearing up for a four-month tour this summer. Weiland, 40, does not mention that he has until May 28 to complete the jail term. He can turn himself in to a Los Angeles correctional facility anytime before that date.

Velvet Revolver to Search for New Singer Online
Originally posted 04/21/2008 04:20PM
Since frontman Scott Weiland parted ways with Velvet Revolver earlier this month, the band has made plans to hold online auditions to replace the troubled singer.
"The band is actually talking about building a Web site in the next month or so and doing some auditions via that," Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash told Billboard.
And while the remaining members of the band will be working with several "well-known people" who will take turns singing during an upcoming Las Vegas show, Slash says that he doesn't have anyone specific in mind for the open slot.
"We're at that point of just listening to different things," he said. "It's one of those situations where you can't really explain it to anybody because you'll know it when you hear it. So, I'm waiting to get that feeling of, 'Yeah, that's it.' "

Danny Federici, Bruce Springsteen's longtime keyboardist, died April 17 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. The 58-year-old E Street Band member had been fighting melanoma for three years. "Danny and I worked together for 40 years – he was the most wonderfully fluid keyboard player and a pure natural musician. I loved him very much ... we grew up together," Springsteen wrote on his website. The band has postponed their concerts in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights.

Scott Weiland Splits from Velvet Revolver, Reunites with Pilots
Originally posted 04/02/2008 02:50PM
Feuds, drugs, and rock 'n' roll – that's what rock bands are made of. But not any more for Velvet Revolver, after parting ways with troubled singer Scott Weiland.
"This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100 percent committed to either," said Slash, one of four founding band members, in a statement Tuesday. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."
Weiland's problems include a recent stint in rehab, and last month's charge of driving under the influence of drugs after an arrest in Los Angeles in November.
