Cannes Film Festival Honors Women in Film

Actresses from both sides of the pond were honored at an event paying tribute to Women in Film Thursday, as part of the Cannes Film Festival.
Naomi Watts, Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Shailene Woodley and French actress Ludivine Sagnier were the special guests at the event, held at the private mansion Villa St. George and sponsored by Calvin Klein. Chastain and Woodley danced the night away around a candlelit pool, still on their feet past midnight, according to the Associated Press.
Celebrities including David Schwimmer and Chris Rock also attended the event.
Alec Baldwin, in town with fianceé Hilaria Thomas, was also a major presence at the party, a source tells PEOPLE. The actor, who's show 30 Rock will wrap next season, joked to a party guest, "I'm going to be out of work soon, so I'm making all the friends I can."

Fifty Shades of Grey: Who Should Play Anastasia Steele?
Originally posted 03/30/2012 11:30AM
Here's one casting decision that might be best left to Mr. Christian Grey himself.
Anastasia Steele, the heroine in Fifty Shades of Grey (a.k.a. the hottest book around) is the object of Christian Grey's affection ... and obsession. Now that the book will be made into a movie, the task of finding just the right actress to play her should be an interesting one.
Ana describes herself in the first book of the steamy trilogy as "a pale, brown-haired girl with blue eyes too big for her face." She's clumsy and awkward but very beautiful – though she clearly doesn't see that herself. Of course, Christian does, and he's not shy about complimenting her "beautiful skin, pale and flawless." Not to mention her slim figure, which he's not shy about appreciating.

Michelle Williams, The Artist Win Big at Indie Spirit Awards

Michelle Williams has another trophy to put on her mantel.
The My Week with Marilyn star earned best female lead for her on-screen transformation into dazzling blond icon Marilyn Monroe Saturday at the 27th annual Independent Spirit Awards. Accepting the award, she joked about how she wore "her own clothes" and cut "her own hair" when she came to the ceremony for the first time 10 years ago.
Williams, 31, already took home a major win for the role at the Golden Globe Awards and, come Sunday, she might have another prize for her shelf after the Academy Awards.
But the Indie Awards's biggest winner was The Artist, which took home the afternoon's top honor, best feature.

And the list keeps growing.
Viola Davis, a double nominee this year for The Help, joins the list of presenters at Sunday's 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The actress will be joined by fellow two-time nominees Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs), The Artist's Berenice Bejo and Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, who will also present awards, the show's executive producer announced.
And first-time SAG nominee Shailene Woodley, nominated alongside George Clooney in The Descendants, is expected to be a presenter, as well.
Previously announced presenters on the show include Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Natalie Portman.
The SAG Awards are a night for honoring one's peers, as the winners are chosen by guild members. The show will be broadcast live on TBS and TNT (8 p.m. ET) from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center on Jan. 29.
