Though his fellow country artists act as judges on reality TV, Jason Aldean's favorite kind of party is on an actual stage – not a sound stage.
"I never say never, but I just know doing that stuff takes away from being able to go out and play our shows," Aldean, named male vocalist of the year at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards, tells PEOPLE. "For me, if I'm not out on the road playing in front of people then I would be miserable."
That said, the singer, who's currently in the middle of his Night Train tour, doesn't hold it against his buddies Blake Shelton and Keith Urban for what they do on The Voice and American Idol.

She's still the one!
After a decade away from the Academy of Country Music Awards stage (or, "10 freakin' years," as pointed out by co-host Blake Shelton), Shania Twain returned to the Las Vegas awards show Sunday night.
And all we have to say is this: Exactly how long is a decade?

Shania Twain still feels like a woman. And now she feels like a Las Vegas headliner.
The Canadian singer kicked off her two-year residency Saturday at Vegas's Caesars Palace with a 90-minute show that features many of her hits and takes the crowd on what she calls a "personal journey."
"The show is very fun for me," Twain, 47, told reporters Friday. "I was a bit worried that we were staying in the same place. Was I going to lose that edge? But I've never had a show this exciting before."

Lionel Richie is connecting with his country side.
The singer, who's got an upcoming country duets album called Tuskegee, will show off his chops live on the CMA Awards Nov. 9 (8 p.m. ET), performing with Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker and Little Big Town
"Over a period of time, I realized that the songs that I was writing translated to country," Richie, 62, said in a press release. "As a songwriter, I didn't really start out thinking I was country; I was thinking I was R&B."
"It was just a natural progression," he added. "I am from Tuskegee, Alabama; I am a country boy. It just felt right to do this."

Shania Twain is Las Vegas-bound!
The country star and new author is going the way of Céline Dion, landing a residency show on the Vegas strip.
"I will let my imagination run wild," she told reporters Wednesday at a press conference to announce the deal. "I'm going to go nuts creatively."

Girl power will open Wednesday night's CMT Awards show, with thrill-seeking country sweethearts Taylor Swift and Shania Twain channeling Thelma & Louise in their legendary convertible ride to kick off the show.
Even so, it may still end up as a guy's night to party.
"My Kinda Party" singer Jason Aldean is the top nominee for the country video award with four nods, and he'll join host Kid Rock, such country stars as Lady Antebellum, Toby Keith, Zac Brown Band and a genre-crossing group of celebs including (nominee and presenter) Justin Bieber, Sheryl Crow and Dancing with the Stars winner Hines Ward.

Rocked by her husband's affair with her supposed best friend, Shania Twain had one chance to confront the other woman.
It didn't go well.
Not long after she found out about the double betrayal, the country star encountered her former friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud, near her home in Switzerland.

Shania Twain says the breakup of her marriage in 2008 left her devastated – then, finally, empowered.
"I didn't want to live," she tells Oprah Winfrey of being told that then-husband Robert "Mutt" Lange was having an affair with her assistant and close friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, in an interview airing Tuesday.
Now, the singer says the dissolution of that 14-year marriage was "a very positive thing." Adds Twain: "I needed the wake-up."
