At 7'1" and 324 lbs., Shaquille O'Neal needs to have everything custom made: his cars and motorcycles, even his shoes – which, at size 23, are nearly twice the size of those of other mortals.
"I'm a big guy," the former NBA center tells PEOPLE as he sits in the sprawling kitchen of his Orlando, Florida, home. (Seriously: It's so big, there's even an echo.)
"I can't really buy regular things and have them fit," he says. "And I'm a perfectionist. I like things to be done right."
So, when O'Neal, 42, wanted a fish tank for the living room of his 8-bedroom, 10½-bathroom residence, he hired the stars of Animal Planet's Tanked to design and custom build a unit.

Tim Tebow got on one knee in Indianapolis Saturday night – to "Tebow" with Maria Menounos in the VIP section of ESPN's Super Bowl party. It was a special treat for the Extra hostess, who Tebowed solo on the Golden Globes red carpet in January.
Nearby, Tom Cruise's son Connor and his posse held court at a table, while Spike Lee, bedecked in Giants gear, relaxed with his son; Shaquille O'Neal cuddled with pint-sized girlfriend Nicole "Hoopz" Alexander; and Drake warmed up for his set by handing out shots to women near the stage.

Shaquille O'Neal and new gal pal Nicole "Hoopz" Alexander don't exactly match up.
The recently retired (and previously married) basketball star, 39, stands nearly two feet taller than his gal – O'Neal is 7' 1" tall, while his leading lady, 28, is just 5' 2".
The tattooed duo, spotted shopping over the weekend in Calabasas, Calif., appeared to be struggling to share a kiss, thanks to the 23-in. height difference. O'Neal awkwardly bent down while Alexander struck a tippy-toed pose.

Shaquille O'Neal, whose talent knows no bounds, branched out into orchestral conducting on Monday night in a slam-dunk performance with the Boston Pops.
The Boston Celtics star, 38, led the famous orchestra and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus in a rousing rendition of "Sleigh Ride" as part of the Holiday Pops Concert at Boston's Symphony Hall.
He might not be the most accomplished conductor in the orchestra's 125-year history, but at 7-foot-1, he is officially the tallest. And while it wasn't NBA-caliber grueling, he said the performance was a workout.
"Actually, you know, I have a whole new respect for conductors," he said before the performance. "I went through a rehearsal today, and my arms are shot right now."

Now that her divorce from NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal is almost final, life's a beach for Shaunie O'Neal, who is enjoying a romance with a new man.
The 35-year-old mother of five stepped out in Maui on last week with her beau, 23-year-old model Marlon Yates.
"He's very mature," says Shaunie, who adds that the couple's age difference is a benefit. "The age thing keeps it fun. The energy level, being out on the beach. He is working out all the time and he inspires me [to work out]."
Shaunie, who executive produces and stars in VH1's new reality series, Basketball Wives, which premieres April 11, met Yates through a mutual family friend last November, the same month she filed for divorce against Shaq.

It's getting nasty.
Shaquille O'Neal's estranged wife Shaunie is demanding access to detailed financial records from the NBA superstar.
According to the documents filed in Miami on Oct. 30 and posted on TMZ.com, Shaunie, 32 – a local TV personality – is requesting copies of the basketball star's $20-million-a-year contract with the Miami Heat and all tax records.
