Brittany Murphy is in the spirit of giving this holiday season. "I'm either going on the USO tour during the holidays or home to New Jersey," the actress told us at the recent Just Cavalli/Flaunt magazine party in Beverly Hills. "I've been on two USO tours already. One was in the States and another was in Iraq, and I can't say where we are going if I go." As for her experience with the nonprofit organization, which aims to boost the morale of U.S. troops, Murphy says, "I will always be involved in the USO. Once you go over it's a part of you forever. It's nice being a friendly face from home." In fact, she has a personal connection to the USO: "I come from a military family – the Marine Corps," she says. "I have a bunch of family members in the Marines." Also at the party: Paris and Nicky Hilton, Mischa Barton, Brandon Davis, Leelee Sobieski, Jared Leto, Evan Rachel Wood and Kevin Connelly.

SUPREME TEST: Diana Ross told police that she was trying to rent a video and got lost when she was stopped and arrested for drunk driving at 12:30 a.m. Monday, according to Tucson, Ariz., police. Officers stopped the former Supremes star, 58, after another driver called to report a swerving vehicle driving south in northbound lanes. At the time Officer Scott Sullivan confronted Ross, she allegedly had parked at the video store in a space for disabled drivers. Sullivan said Ross agreed to a sobriety test but fell down and laughed while trying to stand on one leg and count to 10. She is due to appear in court Jan. 13 on three misdemeanor charges for "extreme" DUI.

Showing he has more than one net game, NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal has teamed up with the world's richest man, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, to protect children on the Internet, reports PEOPLE contributor Todd Foster. Looking like David and Goliath as they stood shoulder to hip at the Boys and Girls Club in southeast Washington, D.C., this week, the pair introduced an online safety program for children called "Stay Safe Online." The program will be tested in 15 new technology centers in rural and inner-city neighborhoods built across the nation with financial support from Gates and O'Neal and technical support from Microsoft.
