Have there been more falls this year than ever before at the Sochi Winter Olympics? It seems likely – in skiing, women are competing on courses built for men, while figure skating changed its scoring rules to encourage more risky quad jumps.
But we're not here to speculate about the causes. We're here to gawk at nasty crashes. Because although these Winter Olympic athletes possess the speed, strength and endurance to shame us normal humans, when they fall, they're just like the rest of us.

Was third time the charm for charismatic U.S. snowboarder Shaun White?
Going for his third gold medal in the Winter Olympics, White, 27, sought to make history Tuesday on the halfpipe at Sochi.
In the end, he fell on a difficult jump and wound up in fourth place.

There's a new sport at the Winter Olympics this year.
The world's most talented and celebrated athletes are putting their physical and mental skills to the test in a competition that requires coordination, determination and a sizable social media following.
Yeah, we're talking about selfies.
When they're not going for the gold, Team USA's finest bobsledders and skiers alike are snapping self-portraits, tagging them #SochiSelfie. And if we could give out medals, these selfies would take the top prize.

Shaun White is off the hook, following a September arrest.
Charges against the Olympic snowboarder, 26 – who issued an apology days after being cited for public intoxication and vandalism during the weekend he attended musician Patrick Carney's wedding – have been dropped, the athlete's lawyer confirms to PEOPLE.
The vandalism charge was previously dropped and the public intoxication charge was dropped on Friday.
