Who is Charles?
That's the question Pretty Little Liars fans face after Tuesday night's (literally!) electrifying spring finale.
Though we never saw his face, we know he's "A." According to the anagram from a few episodes ago, his last name is DiLaurentis. And based on the old film footage showing Mrs. D (Andrea Parker) playing with two little blond boys, we're pretty confident this is author Sara Shepard's twin twist come to life. But it's not Alison (Sasha Pieterse) who has the secret, evil doppelgänger – it's her brother, Jason (Drew Van Acker).

Who's afraid of the big bad "A"?
Pretty much everyone on Pretty Little Liars. But who is the puppet master pulling the strings all season? Who killed Mona, who framed Alison, and who set up Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily as accessories to the crime?
We know he/she has a wardrobe full of black hoodies and collects creepy dolls, and the PLL powers that be have promised we'll find out A's identity during Tuesday's finale. In the meantime, here's what PEOPLE has learned about the mysterious murderer from interviews with stars Shay Mitchell (Emily), Sasha Pieterse (Ali), Cody Christian (Mike) and Keegan Allen (Toby), along with executive producer and writer Joseph Dougherty.

Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) is a pretty little prisoner.
The character whose disappearance, "death" and resurrection grounded the show for five seasons was wrongfully convicted of murdering Mona (Janel Parrish) on Tuesday night's episode of Pretty Little Liars.
And, at the end, her gal pals joined her in orange jumpsuits, arrested as accessories to the crime she didn't really commit.
With just one week left until the spring finale – and the big "A" reveal – here's what went down in Rosewood:

Innocent or guilty?
That's the question Pretty Little Liars' reformed mean girl Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) faces ahead of Tuesday's episode, when a judge will hand down the verdict in her trial for rival Mona Vanderwaal's (Janel Parrish) murder.
But Pieterse promises the biggest shock will come when Big "A" is unmasked.
"I'm just really excited for the fans to see this A in a new light," Pieterse, 19, tells PEOPLE. "It's more disheartening and sad than anything."
Read on to hear her thoughts on the cliffhanger to come, next week's finale, how her character has developed and if there's any hope for stragglers still shipping Emison.

There was no order in this courtroom.
Tuesday's episode of Pretty Little Liars saw the start of Alison's (Sasha Pieterse) trial for Mona's (Janel Parrish) murder, but we didn't really learn anything new the proceedings. Instead, the state's team tried to drum up melodrama and air dirty laundry, painting Ali as a manipulative, soulless ringleader who took high school cattiness way too far.
Yeah, that's an accurate portrait – and that's exactly what Big "A" was counting on.

One down, three to go.
"A" successfully landed a Liar in jail, just as he/she threatened Alison (Sasha Pieterse) on Tuesday's Pretty Little Liars. The rest of the girls desperately tried to decipher who Varjak could be, Ezria called it quits and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) flirted up a storm – literally. Read on for what else happened in Rosewood this week.
Plus! We're trying something new for recaps after being absolutely floored by readers' sleuthing. Tell us who you think A is in the comments section or by Tweeting @people with the hashtag #PLLTheories, and your theory could be published in the next week's post!"

Big "A" means business.
The Pretty Little Liars villain has moved past sending threatening text messages to straight-up violent attacks.
But which characters finally sealed their flirtation with a kiss? Here's what happened Tuesday night:

This week's episode of Pretty Little Liars went out with a bang.
No, Rosewood's body count didn't increase ... yet. Instead, Emily (Shay Mitchell) helped Hanna (Ashley Benson) choreograph a killer routine to Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj's hit "Bang Bang" while the other girls fought new romantic feelings and started to unspool the mystery of "A."
Here's what you missed Tuesday:

There was plenty of blood, sweat and tears on Pretty Little Liars this week as Rosewood's leading ladies tailed their No. 1 "A" suspect and faced big decisions about college and boys. (You know, the type of things high schoolers who aren't being viciously blackmailed and physically assaulted 24/7 deal with.)
But that doesn't mean the show's central mystery fell by the wayside. The girls got leads on the shenanigans Alison (Sasha Pieterse) was trying to pull from behind bars.

The hearts of Pretty Little Liars fans collectively broke during the winter premiere, when Paige (Lindsey Shaw) left Emily (Shay Mitchell) for an A-free existence in California.
Luckily, Em wasn't alone for long: She just shared her second steamy kiss with The Brew's new chef, Talia (Miranda Rae Mayo).
So, is Mitchell still Team Pailey?
