Kirsten Dunst to Lose Head as Antoinette
Originally posted 08/12/2004 08:00AM
SET: Lost in Translation Oscar winner Sofia Coppola will write and direct Marie-Antoinette, starring Kirsten Dunst as the ill-fated French queen and Jason Schwartzman as her equally unlucky husband, Louis XVI. Production is due to begin in France in February, says the Hollywood Reporter. "I've always loved the story of Marie Antoinette and the decadence of Versailles on the brink of revolution," Coppola said, "and the fact she was just a teenager when circumstances forced her to play a significant role in history."

Sofia's Latest Flick
Originally posted 05/12/2004 06:00PM
If you've ever watched the Oscars, you've probably noticed that filmmakers aren't always the best orators. So, rather than risk it, Sofia Coppola stuck to her best medium and used a short film to introduce designer Marc Jacobs when he was honored this week by his alma mater, Parsons School of Design, at its annual black tie fashion show and benefit at New York's Chelsea Piers. Coppola's short film featured footage of past Jacobs collections, along with spots from Sonic Youth's "100%" video, which includes shots of models wearing his clothes. Amongst the fashion cognoscenti in the house: designers Peter Som, Alvin Valley, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez from Proenza Schouler and model Christy Turlington.

Daily Insider for March 26, 2004
Originally posted 03/25/2004 10:09AM
March 26, 2004ANDY PLAYS SINGLES Andy Roddick played singles at a party sponsored by SFX Sports Group recently, arriving in a limo at South Beach hot spot Prive with a group of mostly guys. The tennis star, dressed in jeans, seemed frazzled by the cameras and reporters, and was followed by an in-house security guard all night. Roddick spent most of the evening in a VIP area (where complimentary bottles of Ciroc Vodka were in abundance), leaving only a few times to talk to friends. He left the VIP area once with an unidentified blonde to visit the restrooms, and the gentlemanly Roddick waited for her to come out to walk back with her. As for the news of a reported breakup with his girlfriend of a year and a half, Mandy Moore, Roddick said simply: "I'm just trying to have a good time. I haven't been here in three months and I'm just hanging out with my friends."
