Star Jones Recovering After Cardiac Surgery

Originally posted 03/20/2010 07:05PM

Star Jones underwent cardiac surgery Wednesday related to rarely-performed surgery she had three decades ago after developing a thoracic tumor.

In a statement to PEOPLE, a rep for the television personality confirmed the procedure. "On Wednesday, March 17th, a pre-planned cardiac surgery was performed on Star Jones," the statement read. "This recent surgery is a follow-up to the thoracic surgery she had 30 years ago. The procedure was successful and she is recovering well with her family. Star is grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers."

In August 2003, Jones, 47, underwent gastric bypass surgery and subsequently lost 160 lbs. Her recent cardiac surgery comes just days before her 48th birthday on March 24.

She may have shed 160 pounds, but Star Jones's self image has yet to catch up with her new body.

"I'm still 300 lbs. in my head some days," the lawyer and TV personality, 47, tells Oprah Winfrey on Wednesday's Oprah.

Sharing the stage with well-known dieters Marie Osmond, who dropped 46 pounds from her 5'5" frame, and bikinied PEOPLE cover girl Valerie Bertinelli, Jones for the first time discusses her controversial gastric-bypass surgery and her bumpy exit from The View.

Admitting that, even now, talking about her body with Winfrey leaves her "a little off kilter," Jones says, "I was a little late getting up [today], and I'm always up at 6:00 a.m. But I realized that we were gonna talk about this and it scared me a bit."

Originally posted 10/12/2008 09:45AM

Star Jones is speaking out about how she was treated during her departure from The View in 2006.

“Those girls were hateful,” Jones says of her former co-hosts.

In a new interview in the November issue of Essence magazine, Jones also opens up about “falling into a depression” after losing her self-titled Court TV show last year; her ongoing dispute with Barbara Walters (“Barbara set me up”); and her divorce from Al Reynolds, which was finalized in September.

Responding directly to Reynolds’s infamous YouTube videos, in which he stated he “still loves” Star, Jones responds bluntly: “I’m not in love with him.”

Star Jones's love life is cooking!

The former View host has a new boyfriend who knows his way around a kitchen – Herb Wilson, the executive chef at Manhattan's Soho and Tribeca Grand hotels.

"This was one of the first times they were out in public together," a friend of Jones' tells PEOPLE, after the couple were spotted kissing in the stands at the U.S. Open last weekend. "It's a new relationship, and he makes her very happy."

Jones, 46, and her husband of 3 1/2 years, Al Reynolds, 38, filed for divorce in March. While Jones has not talked publicly about the split, Reynolds released a series of YouTube videos about their oft-scrutinized marriage last July, in which he claimed to still love Jones "very much."

Star Jones's ex, Al Reynolds, wants to set the record straight – really straight.

"I am not a homosexual," he says on a new YouTube video posted Tuesday.

Reynolds also claimed that he still carries a torch for the former View host, who filed for divorce earlier this year. But, in a series of three videos, he admits the two are not on speaking terms.

"It saddens me," he says. "Our relationship is a little tender and hopefully over time we can heal a lot of that, and we can become friends again."

Al Reynolds: I Married Star Jones For Love

Originally posted 05/13/2008 02:55PM

Al Reynolds is opening up – a little – about his split from Star Jones, saying he's saddened by the breakup.

"I know in my heart that I entered my marriage with love and the best of intentions and leave it with great sadness that it didn't work," writes Reynolds in a MySpace post Tuesday.

Jones, 46, filed for divorce from Reynolds, 37, last month. She didn't give a reason for the split, but Jones said she made "an error in judgment" by inviting the media into their lavish 2004 wedding.

In his MySpace post, Reynolds also declined to discuss the reasons for the divorce, but made it clear that he was hurt by the media coverage.

"We're friends, just like a lot of celebrities.", he insisted during his guest spot alongside Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith on the light-hearted TNT show Inside the NBA.
