The shakeup that's shaping up for season 2 of the Fox singing competition.

On the heels of the news that Steve Jones was leaving the show as host, judge Nicole Scherzinger is out as well, according to EW.com. And Paula Abdul was also let go from the show, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

Abdul had a tough time mentoring the groups, becoming the first judge without contestants on season 1. And Scherzinger faced serious backlash after Crow's elimination.

There Have Been No Discussions About Steve Jones Leaving The X Factor

As host of The X Factor, Steve Jones has been in the middle of the show's highly dramatic first season. And he intends to stay there, despite reports that the handsome Welsh TV star may not be asked back to host the show in the U.S.

Calling reports of his firing "a fabrication," a rep for Jones tells PEOPLE, "There have been absolutely no conversations about Steve Jones leaving The X Factor."

According to a show rep, "No discussions have been had and no decisions will be made about any contracts until the New Year."

Why Steve Jones Comes Off 'Rude and Abrupt' on The X Factor

Why is The X Factor host Steve Jones at times quite stern and curt with the talent show's panel of judges? Because he's hearing voices.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jones said the hardest part of his job is listening to "the producers screaming in my ear," telling him to cut off the sometimes verbose judges, including Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul.

"I'm wearing an earpiece and there's about five people screaming, 'Shut Paula up. Shut her up now. Move on,' " Jones, 34, told Ellen. "I'm going to have hearing damage in this ear by the end of series."
