Friday was the day of reckoning for rapper T.I. as an Atlanta judge sentenced him to one year and a day for federal weapons charges.
"Today I would like to say thank you to some, and apologize to all," the rapper told U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. at sentencing, according to the Associated Press.
T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, pleaded guilty last March after he was arrested in 2007 attempting to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers.
He will have between 30 and 60 days to report to prison. Harris already has completed about 1,000 hours of community service and has warned youths about the pitfalls of guns, drugs and violence as documented on his MTV reality series T.I.'s Road to Redemption. He will need to complete 470 additional hours.

According to T.I., the presidential race is a subject fit for a king.
Or at least King magazine's politically-themed November issue, for which he served as guest editor.
"When I'm speaking to young people and they say, 'Who you voting for?' I say, 'Well, what you think's wrong with the country?," says the rapper, 28, in a roundtable discussion. "What problems do you need to be fixed? OK, then cut your PlayStation off and turn to CNN and listen to these people."

Rapper T.I., who just finished working with Mariah Carey on her new music video, "I'll Be Lovin' U a Long Time," tells PEOPLE that he enjoyed the experience with the singer. "She's a phenomenal talent," he says. "Extremely professional."
The hip-hop star has a lot currently going on. He's about to drop a new album, Paper Trail and begin shooing a new movie. But the one thing he wishes he could do is vote. His recent conviction on federal weapons possession charges makes him ineligible to cast a ballot. (He's currently on probation and will begin serving a 12-month sentence in March.)
So the 27-year-old multi-platinum selling artist decided to get other young people to do their civic duty as the spokesperson for the Hip-Hop Caucus's new Respect My Vote campaign.
