As Zack Attack sang on Saved by the Bell, Elizabeth Berkley and her former costars are indeed "friends forever."
"It's amazing," Berkley, 41, told PEOPLE backstage Monday at Dancing with the Stars. "I don't know if you have people from high school who you're still close with, [but] even if we don't see each other for a long time, it's a connection that we'll have forever."
"Luckily we do check in, and we always have each other's backs," she adds. "It's a really special thing."

Santa Claus is coming to town and Malin Akerman, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Tori Spelling, Dean McDermott, Tiffani Thiessen and Ian Ziering were on hand to welcome him at the Second Annual Santa's Secret Workshop at the Andaz Hotel in West Hollywood.
Akerman was "eager to learn as much from the sponsors as possible about the best baby products on the market," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "She even brought a notebook!"
Gellar brought her daughter Charlotte for some quality time, which they spent making crafts and posing for photos with Santa at the event, which was presented by Bill Horn and Scout Masterson.
Spelling and McDermott made their first public appearance with all four children – Liam, Stella, Hattie and newborn Finn – but it was more like a reunion for the cast of the original 90210 with Spelling, Thiessen and Ziering all in attendance.
"Tiffani's daughter Harper saw Ian and ran over to him before sitting down to decorate a holiday photo frame at one of the craft tables," says another guest at the event, which benefitted L.A. Family Housing.
Ziering's daughter, Mia, also got hands-on at the crafts table. "Ian snapped tons of photos of his daughter. It was really cute. He's a super hands-on dad," says the guest.

The parents were joined by Tiffani Thiessen, who hosted the event. Guests brought (or bought) items to donate to the charity, and Van Der Beek later Tweeted his support of the organization, writing, "After having our first child, we saw firsthand how many things a baby quickly outgrows." – Jessica Wedemeyer

Tiffani Thiessen and husband Brady Smith have a reason to celebrate!
The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Harper Renn Smith, on Tuesday in Los Angeles, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Baby Harper, who weighed in at 8 lbs., 3 oz., is "doing great," as are the new parents.
Thiessen's colleagues say motherhood is something the actress is more than prepared for. "She's totally the den mother of the show," White Collar costar Matt Bomer told PEOPLE in February. "She's so organized and so loving and generous – that can only make her an absolutely amazing mom."

With only three months left until her first child is due, Tiffani Thiessen is "feeling great" – and feeling differently about her diet.
"I was a vegetarian for many, many, many years and all of a sudden I started to crave red meat," Thiessen tells PEOPLE at Thursday's USA network and Vanity Fair bash in New York. "Crazy enough, I had a steak before I left tonight and I would never have eaten one before. One day I just woke up and craved meat."
In addition to steaks, the White Collar star, 36, is also enjoying foot rubs from her husband, Brady Smith.
"He rubs my feet, my shoulders and he always gets anything for me even if I'm all hormonal," she says. "I have the best husband and he's a sweetheart."
