Tina Fey's first TV comedy since 30 Rock is heading to Netflix.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which stars Ellie Kemper (The Office) as a woman who escapes a doomsday cult and starts a new life in New York, will debut on Netflix in March. The comedy was originally developed and ordered by NBC for its midseason lineup before Fey and fellow 30 Rock scribe Robert Carlock realized it was a better fit for the home of House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black.
"When the opportunity arose for Tina Fey and Robert Carlock to premiere their new show on Netflix with a two-season commitment, we decided this was the best possible scenario to launch this captivating new series," said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt.
