Denise Richards & Richie Sambora's 'Very Happy' (and First Class) Flight

Accompanying her beau Richie Sambora, a presenter at Nashville's CMT Awards, Denise Richards boarded an American Airlines flight late Tuesday morning.

The couple sat in first class, across the aisle from comedian Tom Arnold, another presenter at the show.

Both sans sunglasses, "Denise sported a simple white T-shirt and had minimal makeup on, if any at all," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "Sambora was in his usual all-black rocker chic gear."

While boarding, "Richie typed on his phone, occasionally showing Denise, who would smile," the source says. "During the flight, Richie read the newspaper. The pair looked very happy together."

Tom Arnold Reveals Sexual Abuse in Childhood

To portray a child molester in a movie is a risky career move for any actor. But for comic actor Tom Arnold, 49, accepting the role as Alex in the new movie Gardens of the Night was more than a role: It was his attempt to finally put his own past as a sexually abused child behind him.

From ages 4 to 7, while growing up in Ottumwa, Iowa, Arnold says he was sexually abused by a 19-year-old male babysitter. He opens up about the experience in an interview with PEOPLE:

Why did you want to play Alex in Gardens of the Night?
It was a tough choice. I was a smart kid, and [my molester] still got to me. So I wanted to portray a pedophile in a way no one has seen before in order to explain how these things can happen. I even wore the same clothes as him in the movie. Showing this guy meant so much to me.

Carlin Remembered: He Helped Other Comics with Drug Problems

Despite his gruff stage persona, offstage the late George Carlin was a gentleman who showed kindness to strangers and offered a hand to others hoping to beat addiction problems, Tom Arnold and other comics tell PEOPLE – while Jerry Seinfeld and Joan Rivers are expressing their appreciation of their unsentimental friend.

"Several times he'd call young comics who were messed up on drugs, and just introduce himself as 'George, a recovering addict, and why don't you go to a meeting with me or we can get together and talk,' " says Arnold, 49, who's also battled with drugs and alcohol. "And it blew them away. Nobody said no."

Arnold and those other comics who worked alongside Carlin over the decades made their remarks Monday night at Hollywood's the Laugh Factory, during a taping of Supreme Court of Comedy. Carlin, 71, died of heart failure Sunday.
