Children and grown-ups alike flocked to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in its first weekend of release, and now Hollywood is betting the the '90s nostalgia wave will last least two more years – on Wenesday, Lionsgate announced that its Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot will hit theaters on Jully 22, 2016.
The studio has signed the the writers of Thor, to produce a script off a story by Star Trek's Robert Orci. There are no plot details yet, but knowing that Lionsgate was the studio behind Ender's Game, The Hunger Games and I, Frankenstein, it's likely the Power Rangers movie will skew in the same dour, effects-driven direction.
So let's cast the thing, then, with the quality of actors who might be able to bring a gritty realness to this tale of five teenagers with attitude picked to defeat the evil Rita Repulsa. We're gong to abide by the same racial casting standards used in the first iteration of the Power Rangers squad. If it makes you uncomfortable, that's OK – that awkwardness is practically an integral part of Power Rangers at this point.

Tom Hiddleston, Orlando Bloom, Michael Fassbender: You might think of them as serious thespians, but you'd be wrong.
We're not sure what's going on across the pond, but we're on board, as it's produced a crop of handsome and critically acclaimed stars who are also not above getting goofy.

He's at it again!
Of course one adorable photo of Tom Hardy with a dog wasn't enough, so The Dark Knight Rises star struck an even more precious pose Thursday while continuing to shoot his new movie Animal Rescue in New York.
Not content with a mere cuddle this time, Hardy puckered his lips and possibly prepared to plant a wet one on his furry friend – who seemed to return the affection! Pouting right back, the pup leaned his head out of the actor's coat and looked ready for a smooch.

Katy Perry was a social butterfly on a recent night out at Soho House in West Hollywood.
Wearing a white lace dress, the pop star ran into a table of business associates having dinner in the garden and stopped to catch up before heading inside to the bustling bar to meet up with friends.
The recently single singer "was all smiles and in great spirits," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "She had hellos for everyone at the table. She was adorable and spoke to them in a character-like cutesy voice before making her exit about five minutes later."
Things were calm for Tom Hardy, who was also at the Soho House the same Wednesday evening.
The Dark Knight Rises actor was spotted "having a nice time with a small group of friends around the bar area," an onlooker says. "He was chatting away and listening to stories while he sipped on a cocktail."
"He looked like he was enjoying a very low-key night out," the source adds.

He's giving Bruce Wayne a run for his money!
Prince Harry looked like a dashing superhero on the red carpet as he arrived for the London premiere of Christopher Nolan's new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, in a fine-looking blue suit, white button-down shirt and black shoes. The only thing missing was his tie – and a cape!
Though he hasn't been seen in a bat suit, the Prince did recently don sleek body-boarding gear on a trip to Cornwall. He's also been known to wear various costumes – both silly and serious.
