In an interview before her split from Tony Romo, she speaks about the process of moving on from a painful breakup – and even ponders how she'd cope with losing Romo.
"If this article comes out and we're not together, I'd still love him, and he'd still be a huge part of who I am today," Simpson, 29 tells Glamour in its September issue.

Jessica Simpson is "bummed" about her split from quarterback Tony Romo, but "it's the best thing for her," according to a source close to the singer.
"[Tony] wanted her to be a house mom and be in Dallas, and he wants to go out and play – and not just football," says the source.
Additionally, the source says Simpson and Romo's relationship started to deteriorate toward the end of their time together. "It's been tough for her. Tony had his eyes on everyone but her towards the end," the source tells PEOPLE. "But let's not forget they lasted for a long time and he stuck with her even though the fans didn't like her."
Although Romo has been linked to another woman – Natalie Smith – in reports, Smith's father John, the associate athletic director at Eastern Illinois University, has denied rumors that the pair are an item.

Kenny Chesney is blasting a tabloid report that he and Jessica Simpson flirted in front of Tony Romo at a July 4 party just days before the couple's breakup.
"Tony's a friend, and I wouldn't flirt with a buddy's girlfriend," Chesney tells PEOPLE. "More importantly, Jessica was just being sweet and there was nothing else to it. It's not funny. There were no problems. Everybody got along great. After the party, everybody went their own way and nobody thought anything more about it. Period. End of story."

Just weeks after Tony Romo broke up with Jessica Simpson, the NFL star has been linked to another woman – Natalie Smith – but Smith's father tells PEOPLE reports of an intimate relationship between the two are "really very silly."
"His breakup brought all these rumors and stories and it is not true," says John Smith, the associate athletic director at Romo's alma mater, Eastern Illinois University.
Smith admits that Romo and Natalie met up for lunch in Dallas last week, but says his entire family – including his wife and three daughters – have "always been friends" with Romo since he was in college.

Jessica Simpson didn't make it to producer Billy Clark's birthday in Los Angeles on Saturday – but that doesn't mean she didn't have any fun this weekend.
The singer, 29, joined her close girlfriends CaCee Cobb, Adrienne Sands and stylist Nicole Chavez for a good old-fashioned girls' night on Saturday.
"Love my ladies!!!" Simpson posted on her Twitter account during the night along with a group photo. "Wish I could be with them everyday of my life. Laughter is wonderful :)"

Jessica Simpson's former beau scored second place to former major league baseball player Rick Rhoden at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Tahoe.
Could the breakup be affecting the quarterback's game?
Romo insists he's working hard to stay focused. "The more stuff you've got in your mind, probably the less successful you're going to be," he told PEOPLE. "So the only thing I think about is the task at hand. When you let your mind wander or think about other things, you're setting yourself up for failure. So I just try to stay focused. I've done a pretty good job of that this week."

Single Jessica Simpson Keeps a Low Profile

Jessica Simpson is officially M.I.A.: Mending inside anonymously.
While Tony Romo has made the rounds shopping, clubbing, gambling and golfing since he dumped the singer last week, Simpson, 29, has kept a low-profile since the breakup.
"She is still with her family," says a source close to Simpson, who is thought to be holed up at her parents' house in Encino, Calif. "She is surrounding herself with a network of support."
Soon, however, the newly minted bachelorette, may be ready for more company: The singer is expected to attend the star-studded birthday party for producer Billy Clark in Los Angeles on Saturday hosted by Simpson's friend Christina Milian.

Tony Romo Gambles with Pals After Splitting from Jessica

Looks like he's not lucky in love – or blackjack. Just six days after Tony Romo broke up with Jessica Simpson, leaving her devastated, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was spotted cruising the casinos in Lake Tahoe on Wednesday.
In town for the American Century Championship golf tournament at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, Romo, 29, enjoyed an early morning round of golf with two friends before trying his hand at poker, roulette and blackjack at Harrah's and Harveys. Though he was losing most of his games, Romo joked with the dealers and was in good spirits as he nursed a cup of black coffee.
