Prepare to see more of Lisa Whelchel.
Almost 25 years after The Facts of Life went off the air, Whelchel, 49, has joined the cast of Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas.
But instead of playing a spoiled prep school student, she'll be someone in charge. "I play the role of Nancy Porter, the country school principal," Whelchel tells PEOPLE. "I'm having fun!"
Since The Facts of Life ended, Whelchel has put her career on hold to raise her three children, acting in just two TV movies. (Her last role was a Facts of Life reunion in 2001.)
Kim Kardashian Gets Dramatic in Trailer for New Tyler Perry Movie (Video)

She's doing what she does best: standing – pretty in pink – in skin-tight dress in the first few seconds of the new trailer for Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.
Playing a character named Ava, Kim Kardashian, 32, is taking a stab at a dramatic role in the upcoming movie, alongside stars like Vanessa Williams and one-time frenemy – and sister of ex-boyfriend Ray J – Brandy Norwood.
According to IMDB, the film, due March 29, is about a marriage counselor (played by Jurnee Smollett) whose life changes once she begins a romance with one of her clients. (And smoldering glances aside, no specific word yet what Kim's role in the film entails.)
Still, judging by the brief clip, the movie is full of steamy, melodramatic scenes with a hot cast that also includes Lance Gross and up-and-comer Eric West.
This won't be Kardashian's first time on the silver screen. She made her film debut in 2008's Disaster Movie, and returned to the big screen in 2009's Deep in the Valley.

Tyler Perry Jumps to Bobbi Kristina Brown's Defense
Originally posted 05/30/2012 04:45PM
Bobbi Kristina Brown is grieving the loss of her mother Whitney Houston – but the young aspiring actress didn't walk out on Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse and, in fact, did "great" work, according to the director.
On Wednesday a report surfaced that Bobbi Kristina quit the TBS comedy and walked out of the show because she is dealing with the death of her mom.
But Perry posted an adamant defense of Houston's daughter on his website saying, "Yes she was grieving, but grief aside, she managed to finish her obligation and did a great job at the same time."

Bobbi Kristina Brown is already following in her famous parents' footsteps.
The daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown has been cast in a recurring role in Tyler Perry's show For Better or Worse, a source confirms to PEOPLE.
No details of the role are available, but the show shoots in Atlanta, where all of Perry's shows are produced and where Bobbi Kristina lives.
Bobbi Kristina, 19, has said she wants to be an entertainer. "I have to carry on the legacy," she told Oprah Winfrey earlier this month. "We're going to do the singing thing. Some acting, some dancing."

Whitney Houston's funeral was as emotional as it appeared to those watching online, one mourner who attended tells PEOPLE.
"It was really beautiful … a lot of people were crying," says Denise Council, who attended the ceremony at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J.
Council – who met Whitney years ago and whose husband went to school with the late singer – kept an eye on Houston's daughter during the ceremony.
"Bobbi Kristina broke down, but she was good," says Council. "She was up in the first row ... and [did] pretty good, all considering. [Whitney's mother] Cissy was wonderful."

Jessica Biel, Jason Bateman and More Slated for Jimmy Kimmel Oscar Afterparty
Originally posted 02/16/2012 04:35PM
Oprah Winfrey is not the only big star staying up late after the Oscars next Sunday. PEOPLE has learned that there are even more celebrities joining Jimmy Kimmel's seventh post-Oscar special!
Jessica Biel, new dad (again) Jason Bateman, JJ Abrams, Steven Tyler, Tyler Perry, Edward Norton, Colin Farrell and Ryan Philippe are on board for the show's big bit "Movie the Movie."
Given the show's history, it's promising – even if Samuel L. Jackson has choice words for those potentially involved (ABC previously announced Meryl Streep, George Clooney and Tom Hanks.) Check out a very bleeped teaser here: Moviethemovie.com.
It should come as no surprise that the skit will push the envelope. Kimmel's annual special has produced LOL-worthy comedy pieces in the past including "F*@#ing Ben Affleck," "Handsome Men's Club," "Hottie Body Hump Club" and "Tom Hanks's Toddlers in Tiaras".
