While the northeast braved a midwinter blizzard, the West Coast was feeling the heat – and we're not just talking about the comparatively warmer weather.
With the Grammy Awards on the horizon, the most famous faces of the industry were in their finest form Saturday to celebrate music's biggest night.
John Mayer and Katy Perry took their date night up a notch at Clive Davis and The Recording Academy's Annual Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton hotel, where they were spotted holding hands while Patti Smith performed. The couple was color-coordinated: he was in a white dinner jacket and black bow tie, and she wore a white designer dress.

Sure, every season has a makeover episode that comes with the requisite tears and resistance. But this season, the girls will be forced outside the box with amped-up style overhauls.

Alert Elizabeth Gilbert!
Taking a page from the Eat, Pray, Love author's playbook, Tyra Banks took a trip to Asia and found a new love.
"It's a total long-distance romance," a source reveals to PEOPLE of Banks's new Balinese love interest. "But it's a big deal."
Banks, who split with longtime boyfriend John Utendahl last fall, had gone to China shortly before the holidays to tape the latest season of America's Next Top Model.
She met her new man while traveling and after flying back to New York, she turned right around and flew back to Bali to spend the holidays with him, the source says.
A rep for Banks would not comment on her new romance.

America's Next Top Model crowned a winner Wednesday night in its all-stars cycle, but not before a shocking and largely unexplained disqualification of one of the final three contestants.
Lisa D'Amato, Allison Harvard, and Angelea Preston were battling for the crown, but after an unusual panel, the judges declared that Preston was disqualified – without saying exactly why – and that D'Amato and Harvard would square off for the title.
Eventually, D'Amato was named the winner, but the buzz around the Internet continued to focus on the nature of Preston's dismissal.

Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. Here we are at the dreaded episode of my elimination. I never in a million years saw this coming.
The episode kicked off with reality TV star Kristin Cavallari stopping by our home to speak about her experiences in branding and how she stretched her reality TV fame into a career. She was very sweet and savvy, and later served as our guest judge at panel.
