Sex and the City Helped Tyra Banks Lose Weight
Originally posted 09/10/2009 03:50PM
Is there anything the ladies of Sex and the City can't do? Not only do they live out cosmopolitan fantasies in boardroom-sized shoes closets – they've also helped Tyra Banks lose weight.
In an episode of The Tyra Show to air Friday, Banks describes how a new treadmill and watching the show about Carrie Bradshaw's romantic travails helped her get her supermodel body back.
"I got rid of one of my couches in my living room and I watched Sex and The City episodes on the treadmill or the elliptical," she says. "So Sex and the City lasts 30 minutes – that's how long I'm on the elliptical."

Rachael Ray Wins Daytime Emmy for Best Talk Show
Originally posted 08/31/2009 06:30AM
Rachael Ray has taken the crown traditionally worn by Ellen DeGeneres: the TV chef won the Emmy for best talk show, an honor that for the three previous years has gone to DeGeneres.
"I'm just thankful to have a job in the recession and be working," Ray said after her win at Sunday's 36th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, held at downtown Los Angeles's historic Orpheum Theater and aired on the CW network.
On the red carpet before her victory, Ray told PEOPLE that she lacked an acceptance speech. "You know, I'm so bad at memorization and our show is completely unscripted, so I'm just going to go up," she said, "and if something nice happens like that then we'll just go with our gut."

Why Tyra Banks Fired Paulina Porizkova
Originally posted 05/18/2009 02:40PM
First General Motors, then Chrysler, now Paulina Porizkova.
"The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide," says America's Top Model executive producer Ken Mok, in a joint statement with Tyra Banks released Monday. "America's Next Top Model is not immune to these financially challenging times. We've had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts."
As Porizkova herself announced May 12, she was let go from her job as a judge on the show after one year.

Tyra Banks Stalker Convicted
Originally posted 04/30/2009 01:15PM
Supermodel Tyra Banks's alleged stalker Brady Green was convicted of stalking, harassment, criminal trespass and attempted aggravated harassment Thursday morning at Manhattan's criminal court.
"The behavior was hounding," Judge James Burke said, according to the New York Daily News. The judge had listened to closing arguments Thursday morning before deciding the verdict.
Though the crime carried a possible 90-day jail sentence, Burke did not sentence the defendant to any jail time, instead instructing his lawyer, Jeffrey Berman: "Put Mr. Green in a location where he can thrive. And that location is not likely to be the city of New York." The 38-year-old defendant is a native of Dublin, Ga.

Tyra Banks Takes Stand in Stalker Case
Originally posted 04/29/2009 12:30PM
Tyra Banks stepped out as the top witness Wednesday, testifying against accused stalker Brady Green.
"I fear my safety. I feel extremely vulnerable. I fear the safety of my staff. My family. The people in my vicinity," said Banks, who appeared calm and spoke softly on the stand in downtown Manhattan, as she shared her recollection of when she heard about Green, 38, who is charged with stalking, harassment and criminal trespass.
"[My staff doesn't] tell me about fans," said Banks. "They said this person threatened one of my staffers. At that moment that was it. The first thing is there's this person who's more than a fan."
Explaining the intensity of the threat, Banks said, "I was at work one day about to leave and a bunch of people on my staff said, 'No! You can't go.' [Green] got past security and you need to be here. Never in my career had staff reacted like this. I had to stay in my dressing room for a while."

"I did a scene with some of the girls and then later on tried to help judge that scene," he explains.

Top Model Casting Rescheduled
Originally posted 04/06/2009 03:30PM
Casting calls for the latest America's Next Top Model last month
turned downright scary after fights broke out while hundreds waited for an audition. But producers are soldiering ahead with another audition in New York.
The auditions will take place April 11 at a location to be announced. (Exact details will be posted on CWTV.com later in the week.) Like the earlier call, producers are looking for women age 18-27, who are 5'7" and
under – and from diverse backgrounds. As a concession to security, new rules stipulate that nobody is allowed to line up overnight nor before 6 a.m. on the day of the casting. Prospective models will also be handed
wristbands while waiting in line.
Tyra Banks subsequently issued a statement after the riot
at the March 14 casting that resulted in two people's hospitalization. "To all the Top Model hopefuls who were affected by the New York casting, we are doing everything we can to make sure that ALL the girls who weren't seen, get an opportunity to audition," Banks said at the time.

Banks also talked about her goals for the popular CW reality show: "It is so important to me to redefine beauty, and make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to pursue their dream. I am beyond excited for
Cycle 13; for the first time ever, young women 5'7" and under have a shot at becoming America's Next Top Model! I encourage each girl to come out ready to rock the runway and show off their fiercest pose. I'm rooting for all of you!"
Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a panicked stampede broke out while hundreds waited in line to audition for the show.
