Uma Thurman Fears She'll 'Choke My Career to Death'
Originally posted 09/16/2009 01:00PM
She became a Hollywood star as a teen, but Uma Thurman – who turns 40 next year – says getting through the last decade was a big challenge.
"I can't say my 30s were the easiest time. And I had thought my 20s were hard!" she tells W Magazine for its October issue.
For those who think she had it all – the looks, the career (Oscar and Golden Globe nominations), and the family (kids Maya, 11, and Levon, 7) – she has a warning: "You know, that's the worst mistake a woman can make, to think, 'Oh, I'm 32 and I've had two kids and I've worked since I was 16 and now it's going to get easier.' Because as soon as you think that, you're doomed! You're absolutely doomed!"

Originally posted 04/21/2009 02:50PM
It's not just the fact "she looks beautiful" that attracts Swiss multimillionaire Arpad Busson to Uma Thurman, but her charitable heart, he tells PEOPLE
"Of course, I'm proud of her," the financier, 46, said Monday night after arriving at Rose Hall in Jazz at Lincoln Center on the arm of his fiancée for the Cookie Magazine Smart Cookie Awards in New York. Thurman was honored for her work with Room to Grow, a non-profit organization that helps children born into poverty during the first three critical years of their lives.
Busson, who kept his arm around Thurman on their way into dinner and for much of the evening, told PEOPLE he was especially proud of Thurman's charity work. "She's been involved since the beginning [of Room to Grow, in 1998]. She goes and sees the sites and works on the projects. She's been incredibly dedicated."

Uma Thurman's Stalker Gets Probation and Treatment
Originally posted 06/03/2008 08:00AM
After a post-trial diagnosis that found he has a psychotic disorder, Uma Thurman's convicted stalker has been sentenced to three years' probation and to undergo psychiatric treatment.
Jack Jordan, 37, told a Manhattan State Supreme Court judge on Monday that he was "terrified of being incarcerated again," reports The New York Times. Justice Gregory Carro, in turn, told Jordan that his going to jail for what he did to Thurman "would not protect society."
Jordan was convicted on May 6 of fourth-degree stalking and second-degree aggravated harassment (and found not guilty of two charges of aggravated harassment).
The stalking charges could have carried up to 90 days in jail, while the aggravated harassment charges could have meant jail for up to a year. It took the jury seven hours to come to its conclusion.

Uma Thurman Stalker Juror Talks About Verdict
Originally posted 05/07/2008 01:30PM
It took seven hours for the jury in the Uma Thurman stalker trial to reach its decision, a member of the panel said on Wednesday – one day after Jack Jordan was convicted of fourth-degree stalking and second degree aggravated harassment, yet found not guilty of two charges of aggravated harassment.
The issues faced by the 12 jurors – all with highly different backgrounds and opinions – essentially boiled down to whether Jordan, 37, was "a lovestruck fan with an odd sense of humor and no sense of boundaries" (as his legal reps argued), or was he "a threat who should face jail time?" writes Wall Street Journal reporter and juror Emily Steel in her newspaper.

Uma Thurman Testifies on Stalker 'Nightmare'
Originally posted 05/01/2008 01:40PM
In a real-life role Uma Thurman was reluctant to play, the actress took the witness stand in Manhattan State Supreme Court midday on Thursday in the trial of her accused stalker.
Thurman, not wearing makeup and at times her hands shaking, recounted her reaction when the accused delivered a card bearing a picture of an open grave and a man standing on the edge of a razor blade: "I was completely freaked out. It was like a nightmare. It was scary," she said, Reuters reports.
Thurman said she received the card from defendant Jack Jordan in November 2005, while shooting a movie near her downtown New York City home. She also said it contained the written message, "My hands should be on your body at all times."
