Valerie Bertinelli is one feisty foodie.
After losing 40 lbs., the Jenny Craig success's new cookbook, One Dish at a Time, showcases her love of making healthy, delicious food – but that's not the only joy of cooking for Bertinelli.
Opening up about her husband Tom Vitale's surprising turn-ons in the kitchen, she tells the new issue of Prevention magazine, "I told [Tom] a long time ago, 'You know what foreplay is to me? Emptying the dishwasher.' "
Still she adds, "I think he took it too literally … I'm like, 'No, honey, it takes more than emptying the dishwasher.' But that's part of it."

Three years after she first donned the itsy-bitsy green bikini on a cover of PEOPLE, Valerie Bertinelli is ready to break it out again.
"The green bikini is in my drawer just waiting for me to put it back on," the Hot in Cleveland star, 52, said at Thursday's American Heart Association's Wall Street Run & Heart Walk in New York. "When these 5 lbs. come off, then I will put that back on."
"It's like the 5 lbs. that creeps on and then you have to take it back off, creeps on and take it back off," she said, "and I think that a lot of people go through that before the summer."

What if Betty White isn't so crazy about Ryan Seacrest after all?
Amid much publicity, the star of the new NBC show Off Their Rockers finally started Tweeting at age 90, posting a flirty message about the American Idol host on her verified account.
But the next morning, Valerie Bertinelli, who costars on White's other show, TV Land's Hot in Cleveland, stirred up the Twitter-verse by suggesting White's account (which now has more than 144,000 followers) was not legit.

Apparently Jennifer Love Hewitt isn't a bring-home-to-mom kind of gal – at least not on Hot in Cleveland.
In a Jan. 25 episode of the TV Land series (airing at 10 p.m.), the actress, 32, reprises her role as Wendie Malick's daughter Emmy, and disappoints Valerie Bertinelli's character Melanie when she announces that she is engaged to her son Will, played by Joe Jonas. (See clip, below.)
"Our moms are shocked to find out that we're engaged," Hewitt tells PEOPLE. "I'm the wrong person for him because his character is really nice and down to earth, and mine is ridiculous and rude and has all the wrong priorities."

It was enough of a victory when Valerie Bertinelli shed 40 lbs. and then managed to keep off the weight – but now she's unlocked the secret to a more elusive goal: Dropping weight during the calorific holiday season.
"You know what, I lose weight, not gain it, during the holidays," she told PEOPLE recently at the Bloomingdale's Coat Kick-Off Drive with Sundance Channel's All on the Line with Joe Zee. "You have more days off, so you have more time to go to the gym and be active. I have so much more time to work out this time of year."
Bertinelli, 51, says preparing holiday food also sometimes leaves her cold.

Valerie Bertinelli didn't skimp on trips to the gym when she was trying to lose weight. And now that she's 40 lbs. lighter, not much has changed.
"I mix treadmill running with exercises like push-ups, walking lunges, crunches," she tells Prevention magazine in its September issue of her exercise routine.
The Jenny Craig spokeswoman, 51, who displayed her bikini bod on the cover of PEOPLE in March 2009, gets a little help when she hits the gym – from personal trainer, Christopher Ross Lane.

The pricier the engagement ring, the better – right, ladies?
Not according to Valerie Bertinelli, who says she was taken aback when Tom Vitale presented her with some expensive bling when he popped the question last year.
"It was from Tiffany's," the Hot in Cleveland actress says in an interview airing Wednesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I said, 'Why did you spend so much money? Why did you go to Tiffany's? You should've gone someplace else with cheaper jewelry.' "
She adds with a laugh: "I don't know why he married me."

Valerie Bertinelli doesn't feel the need to get all dressed up to impress her new hubby Tom Vitale. In fact, the actress prefers to do the opposite.
"Tom and I like being able to walk around naked," the Hot in Cleveland star, 50, says in the March issue of Good Housekeeping.
But the couple's uninhibited pastime isn't always possible. "You can't [be naked] when the kids are in the house," Bertinelli says of Vitale's four children from a previous marriage and Bertinelli's son Wolfie, with ex-husband Eddie Van Halen.

It's just a word, but it makes a big difference.
Valerie Bertinelli says one nice thing about finally getting married to longtime boyfriend Tom Vitale is simply that she can call him her husband.
"I think I got tired of calling him 'my spousal equivalent,' " the Hot in Cleveland actress, 50, said Wednesday on The View. "It's nice to call him my husband. It feels appropriate."

Sure, Valerie Bertinelli was blissfully happy in her six-year relationship with Tom Vitale, but she wanted more.
"I could have spent the rest of my life with Tom and not be married, but I wanted to call him 'my husband'," the Hot in Cleveland star, 50, tells PEOPLE. "I really wanted to share how I feel about Tom with the people I love."
