Vanessa Hudgens in No Rush to Get Married

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron are one of Hollywood's hottest young couples – but getting married and settling down is the last thing on the actress's list of things to do.

"I think [marriage and starting a family] is great," says Hudgens, 20, "but I'm so focused on my career right now that it doesn't really cross my mind."

What is on Hudgens's agenda is expanding her resume: The leading lady is taking on a different kind of high school role in this fall's movie Bandslam, a coming-of-age story about a motley crew of students who come together to form an eclectic band. Hudgens will play Sa5m (the 5 is silent), a quiet, shy girl who is a departure from her effervescent High School Musical character, Gabriella. And Hudgens is enjoying the change of pace.

Will Ferrell, Cameron Diaz, Vanessa Hudgens and Ryan Reynolds are among the high-wattage stars kicking off their summer plans by presenting at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

Also set to hand out the Golden Popcorn trophies are Denzel Washington, Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill and Lil Wayne, MTV announced Monday.

This year, the vampire blockbuster Twilight had the most nominations but faces off against best picture Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire.

Zac & Vanessa Celebrate Their Friend's 20th Birthday

• Zac Efron, wishing pal Bubba Lewis a happy 20th birthday with a playful shove and hug hello at the Hard Rock Café at Universal City Walk. The High School Musical star was more affectionate with girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens at the bash, and the two had a "cute disposition together," a partygoer tells us. Later, Efron sang "Happy Birthday" to his BFF (and 17 Again costar) after dinner in the restaurant's private dining area. He also gave his musically-inclined friend a gift card to Guitar Center.

Vanessa Hudgens Unlikely to Join New Moon Cast

She reportedly auditioned for a role in the forthcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon, but Vanessa Hudgens is unlikely to get the part – for now.

"I'm not sure about [final] casting but I had heard Vanessa Hudgens was going up for the part of Leah [Clearwater, a werewolf]," screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote both films, explained to PEOPLE at the 61st Annual Directors Guild of America Awards in Los Angeles Saturday night. "But at the moment, the part of Leah doesn't happen until the third movie."

See? It's nothing personal. Plus, reps have denied Hudgens was in consideration for the role.

Rosenberg also offered a few other insider tidbits about the progress of New Moon. "Well, you know Taylor Lautner will be back as Jacob Black. I can tell you the original cast will all be coming back. They're on set right now, in Vancouver! They're all up there prepping the movie to start shooting very soon."
