Jake Gyllenhaal was cracking up and laughing with pals during a lively night at West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont – but the actor gave special attention to one woman: Olivia Wilde. The two were very flirty, an onlooker says, acting "touchy-feely." Says the onlooker: "At one point, he had his hand on hers." Still, the two weren't overly affectionate with each other. "Olivia was very cool," the onlooker says, "and wasn't fawning over Jake but seemed to like the attention he was giving her." Alas, at the end of the evening the two went their separate ways. As for their relationship, the actress's rep tells us they're just friends.

The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival kicks off its three-day reign Friday night – and that means one thing: The stars are decamping to the desert, to rock out to an eclectic roster of bands, including Kings of Leon, Grammy-winners Arcade Fire, Kanye West, Duran Duran and others.
The annual festival in Indio, Calif., has drawn out a starry array of music fans, including Lindsay Lohan and Kirsten Dunst, for poolside parties as well as the music.
Sources tell PEOPLE that Scarlett Johansson, who performed at Coachella with Jesus and Mary Chain in 2007, is likely to attend this year too, this time with new beau Sean Penn.
Also expected to attend: Glee stars Lea Michele and Darren Criss, as well as a Who's Who of Young Hollywood, including Zac Efron, Emma Roberts and Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgard, who have been there in the past.

Whitney Port has typically kept her personal life out of the spotlight – but the former City and Hills starlet can't hold back when it comes to gushing about Ben Nemtin, her Buried Life beau of almost a year.
"I think he embodies all of the qualities of the perfect boyfriend," Port, 25, told PEOPLE Thursday night at a PEOPLE StyleWatch party at Decades boutique in L.A.
"I think we're just really open and honest with each other," says the reality starlet, clothing designer and Genuine Ken host. "We tell each other everything that goes on and everything that we're feeling everyday, and we're just really there for each other."

First The Hills ended, and now The City.
The MTV reality show, which followed California Girl Whitney Port as she broke into world of New York's fashion industry, won't be back for a third season, its star confirms.
"It's always sad when one major chapter in your life comes to a close, but for me, this is the beginning of an entirely new one," Whitney wrote on her official blog. "I loved filming The City. It was just such an adventure and I'm so grateful for every opportunity it gave me."
The show, which was a spin-off of The Hills (itself a spin-off of Laguna Beach), also starred Olivia Palermo as Whitney's fashionable nemesis, Roxy Olin as a friend and roommate and People's Revolution's Kelly Cutrone as her no-nonsense mentor in the fashion PR world, among others.

The dancing never stops! Dancing with the Stars contestant Audrina Patridge had a mini-Hills reunion with pal Whitney Port at Las Palmas in L.A. Patridge was there to host a launch party for Just Dance 2, a new Nintendo Wii video game. At one point, she teamed up with Port for a spirited run through the game, busting a move on the dance floor. But they also spent time gossiping and catching up at the bash, which also brought out DWTS pro Karina Smirnoff and Brandy.

First, she and Roxy had a fight over a celebrity styling session. Then, Roxy moved out. And now, it looks like Whitney might be biting the hand that feeds her. In a clip from the season finale, which airs tonight (10:30 p.m. EST) on MTV, Whitney has to answer to mentor Kelly Cutrone after meeting with competing agency Alison Brod Public Relations.
"She is saying that you've left People's Revolution and that you're joining her firm. I've already talked to three like, 'Did Whitney fire Kelly?' " Cutrone tells her. "I don't know how this can go from me helping you to me getting fired."
"The last thing that I want is to upset you or to hurt you or your company," Whitney says in response.

"I had no idea you were leaving so soon," Whitney says.
"I just thought, 'Why not like rip it off like a Band-Aid and just get it over with?' " Roxy says in reply. "I can't really take the tension here ... I'm going to stay with a friend for now."

For those losing sleep over Speidi's separation, the joke may be on you. Several of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's Hills castmates say the duo's breakup is just another one of their publicity stunts.
"I think it's a joke," Audrina Patridge told PEOPLE at the MTV Movie Awards in L.A. Sunday. "I don't believe it. They're inseparable and in love."
Also questioning the validity of the split is Hills-turned-City gal Whitney Port. "I doubt they're really broken up," she said. "I'm sure they're still sticking together."

She’s a reality star, a PR-girl and a fashion designer, but now Whitney Port is adding another title to her resume: author.
The MTV star, who appeared on The Hills before moving to New York to star in The City, will pen a book, True Whit, for It Books, due out in 2011.
In what her publisher describes as a "conversational, fun, and candid guide for girls looking to start out [in life] with style, " the Whitney Eve designer plans to write personal stories, and advice for young women.
"Being a twenty-something can be a difficult phase," says Port, 25. "There are so many questions, and I wanted to write about my experiences for anyone who needs help navigating through life."
