Jada Pinkett Smith Reveals Her Struggle with 'Many Addictions'

Originally posted 09/25/2013 03:30PM

It looks as though Jada Pinkett Smith received some valuable presents upon turning 42 recently: Specifically, the gifts of reflection and inspiration.

The actress and wife of Will Smith has taken to Facebook to discuss publicly her "many addictions" as well as divorce, friendship, love and happiness.

"Yesterday I turned one year older, and I reflected on where I have been and where I am now," Smith wrote last Thursday on her personal page, which has nearly four million likes.

"What I learned about myself is this, when I was younger I was not a good problem solver, meaning I had a very difficult time dealing with problems in life. I had many addictions, of several kinds, to deal with my life issues, but today, at 42, I have my wisdom, my heart and my conscience as the only tools to overcome life's inevitable obstacles."

Willow Smith's New Video: Too Racy for Her Age?

Originally posted 07/12/2013 04:15PM

They say that kids grow up too fast these days – and apparently Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's daughter, Willow Smith, is no exception.

The young actress and singer has come under fire this week for her new music video for "Summer Fling," in which the 12-year-old is seen holding hands, hugging, cuddling and flirting with a seemingly much older boy.

Sample lyrics include: "You tell me that I’m the one/I tell you it's just for fun," and "don't really care what we do tonight/good night kiss 'til the mood is right/laying by the beach with you/wishing it would never end."

Originally posted 06/04/2013 09:00AM

Sometimes it's the little things that matter most to superstar couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

"We tend to find magic in the mundane. Picking Willow up from her girlfriend’s house at 9:30 p.m., and enjoying that ride together, then stopping at 7-Eleven to get some ice cream as a family," Smith tells Redbook in their July cover story, on newsstands June 11.

As for her often-scrutinized marriage, Smith says there isn't anything her husband could do to send her for the hills. Well, almost nothing.

In their new film After Earth, real-life father and son Will and Jaden Smith play a father and son – and Will says his 14-year-old son's decision to act was all his own.

"It may seem like we have pushed our kids into the business, but that is absolutely insane," the star tells New York magazine in advance of the movie's May 31 release.

"I would never, ever, push somebody to have their face on a poster that's going to be everywhere in the world. He is making a choice from the informed," says Will, 44.

It wasn't Bel-Air, or even West Philadelphia, but Will Smith grabbed a microphone in London and proved he hasn't forgotten his Fresh Prince roots.

The megastar and son Jaden pleasantly shocked The Graham Norton Show audience Friday when they stood up during their appearance to promote After Earth and rapped the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – with the help of Smith's old pal, DJ Jazzy Jeff. Jada Pinkett Smith knows a thing or two about diet and exercise.

The 41-year-old mom to Jaden, 14, and Willow, 12, who recently showed off an extremely toned beach body, says the craziest diet she's ever done actually involved a whole lot of eating.

"My craziest diet was for The Matrix," Smith told PEOPLE at the Vera Wang Fall 2013 Collection fashion show at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week on Tuesday. Governors Awards Brings Out the Oscar Hopefuls in Hollywood

Originally posted 12/02/2012 05:20PM

Sure, the presidential election season may be long over, but the spirit of democracy is still in full-swing in Hollywood, where some familiar faces are campaigning for the industry version of a spot in the White House: a gold Oscar statuette.

You'll have to wait until February to see which of your favorite scene-stealers will take home honors at the 85th Academy Awards. Until then, the industry's top contenders arrived in head-to-toe red carpet form Saturday at the Academy's Governors Awards, which serves as an unofficial venue for potential nominees to convince Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences members to rock the vote (in their favor, of course).
