Owen Wilson sure knows how to horse around.
The actor was joined by his girlfriend Jade Duell and their 2-year-old son, Ford, at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles on Saturday.
"Owen was really sweet with baby Ford," an onlooker tells PEOPLE.
The proud parents took the event as a chance to introduce their son to a horse. "Ford smiled and Owen started snapping photos of Ford with the horse. He kept saying, 'Ford, Ford, look at me' to get the baby to look at him while he took the photos on his iPhone," the source adds.
After feeding the horse an apple, Wilson chatted with Nacho Figueras about the match.

It's time for some fall fun for the Kardashian family.
Kourtney Kardashian took her children, Mason, 3, and Penelope, 15 months, to Underwood Farms Fall Festival in Moorpark, Calif., on Sunday.
Joined by Kris Jenner and makeup artist pal Joyce Bonelli, Kardashian "looked gorgeous" in a black floppy hat, sunglasses, loose white button-down and Converse sneakers, an onlooker tells PEOPLE.
RJ Mitte isn't the only Breaking Bad actor who loves breakfast.
Bryan Cranston, who is currently starring as former President Lyndon B. Johnson in All the Way at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass., made a return visit to one of his favorite Boston-area restaurants Saturday morning.
Cranston headed to Zinneken's with a couple friends, where he feasted on the Cambridge mainstay's signature meal: Belgian waffles.
Opting for blueberry, strawberry and banana waffles – sans bacon – Cranston "was just a regular guy," the restaurant's manager told PEOPLE. "He was cool to people."
Dressed casually in a striped shirt and Los Angeles Dodgers hat, Cranston had no problem posing for a quick photo with one of the restaurant’s employees, a big Breaking Bad fan.
"When we asked if we can take a picture, he was like 'sure!' " said the manager.
Talk about making a splash.
On Saturday, Matt Damon, wife Luciana and a large group of family members (26 in all) lounged poolside at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.
The group enjoyed a leisurely lunch at La Cote, the hotel's ocean view Mediterranean restaurant, where they ate, drank and played with the children. On the menu? Chicken Caesar salad, lobster thermidor, grilled vegetable platters, seared haloumi, lentil salads, fried calamari, conch ceviche and a variety of kids' food (including special milkshakes). Pitchers of Margaritas and pina coladas flowed freely as well.
Broken heart? What broken heart?
If Liam Hemsworth is all broken up about his split from Miley Cyrus, he's not showing it.
Hemsworth, 23, opted for some quality guy-time on Sunday, stepping out with actor James Marsden and a few other pals for some game-day fun at upscale sports bar Ainsworth Park in New York City.
They were named the highest-earning acting couple in Hollywood – raking in a whopping $50 million in 2013 – and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt recently put their money to use at a jewelry store in Hong Kong.
The couple visited Emperor Watch and Jewellery (sic) Store while visiting Hong Kong on September 22 and spared no expense.
"They bought a Parmigiani Watch (an exclusive Swiss watch brand renowned for its quality) and some other jewelry products from our shop that day," Kristy Yue, Assistant Public Relations Manager, tells PEOPLE.
Everyone knows you have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette – especially Liam Hemsworth.
The actor – who recently split from fiancée Miley Cyrus – took a break from filming the final installment of The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, in Atlanta on Friday to dine at Buckhead Diner.
Wearing a gray henley shirt and New York Yankees baseball cap, Hemsworth and a male friend arrived at the restaurant around 11:30 a.m. Both opted for customized omelets, with Hemsworth adding chicken, mushrooms and avocado to his.
Just a month after welcoming son Axl Jack, Fergie showed off her sexy post-baby body on date night with husband
Josh Duhamel at L.A. hotspot Hakkasan on Wednesday.
The new parents were "laughing and in great spirits," an onlooker tells PEOPLE.
Before indulging in signature dishes like dim sum, roasted silver cod with Champagne, grilled Chilean sea bass with chinese honey, Sanpei corn-fed chicken claypot and macaroons for dessert, Fergie, 38, and Duhamel, 40, took a moment to say grace.
Newly of age Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte is ready to live it up.
Mitte, whose AMC series just won best drama at the Emmys on Sunday, began celebrating a little early.
Popping into the HBO Luxury Lounge in Beverly Hills on Friday with his mom, Mitte sipped on Baileys Irish Cream and was heard by an onlooker saying jokingly, "Now that I'm 21, I want shots of Baileys all day long."
Even though Mitte is the famous one, his mom didn't walk away without some VIP treatment of her own. Her son scooped up a fancy pair of earrings from Pandora jewelry for her.
Congratulations to all the Emmy nominees! We are on our way....... pic.twitter.com/rIqSAWXFvg— RJ Mitte (@RjMitte) September 22, 2013
It looks as if Chinese food is a Kardashian family favorite.
Just one night after Kim Kardashian and Kanye West dined at Hakkasan in L.A., the new mom's sisters were spotted dining at the restaurant's Las Vegas outpost.
Kourtney Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian Odom hit Hakassan inside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino at 10 p.m. on Saturday before attending the IHeartRadio Music Festival.
